Let's talk about taxes.
Second Look® Review

We expect the students bring their 2007, 2006, & 2005 income tax returns.  The students are expected to perform Second Look on their own returns.

What is Second Look® Review?

The Second Look® Review provides a thorough, professional review of a client’s federal, state or local tax returns prepared by someone other than H&R Block. The Second Look review includes the H&R Block Standard Guarantee.

How does this product meet our clients’ needs?

The Second Look proposition should draw prospects – many of whom have either never been in H&R Block or have not returned for some time – into our offices at a time when we have the capacity to provide the best possible client experience – between the peaks. It’s an excellent opportunity for the tax professional to help clients understand why it makes sense to become a regular H&R Block client, to build your book of business, and to earn a little extra money…potentially climbing to full converted return commission.

Our knowledge of the tax code and the ability to apply it to our clients’ situations in the most beneficial way is just part of the reason this service, combined with your expertise, will convince them to become our clients. Other reasons include our willingness to help our clients understand the tax and financial implications of other life decisions. When you take the time to work with these clients to optimize their tax return, they will see that you care.

Who is eligible for Second Look?

You can conduct a Second Look on any competitor-prepared or DIY return, filed or not, for 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004. This means that Second Look clients will primarily be new clients or WinBack clients.

Second Look is not available for returns that were prepared by H&R Block. This includes returns prepared by another H&R Block office or returns prepared with TaxCut Online and TaxCut Software.

What if a client wants me to do a Second Look on a return prepared by another H&R Block office or prepared through our TaxCut software or online programs?

If a client brings in a return prepared by another H&R Block office or through our digital products (TaxCut Online or TaxCut Software), these returns can be reviewed as a service to the client to make sure they are satisfied. They should not be charged for the review.

What happens if we need to do an amendment as result of reviewing a return prepared by another H&R Block office or through our TaxCut software or online programs?

If an amendment is required for a return prepared by another H&R Block office or through our digital products, the client will be charged the regular prices for that work.

My client has already filed their tax return – can they still get a Second Look?

Yes. Second Look reviews apply to both filed and un-filed federal, state and local returns.

What exactly do clients receive for the fee?

For 2007 and 2006 reviews, clients will receive a line by line TPS review of their federal, state and/or local tax returns by an H&R Block tax professional. Once the review is complete, clients will receive a summary printout of the Second Look review analysis conducted by H&R Block, as well as the H&R Block Advantage statement currently provided to clients.

For 2005 and 2004 reviews, we will conduct a visual review or TPS interview review of their federal, state and/or local tax returns. Clients will receive a summary printout of the Second Look review analysis conducted by H&R Block.

How does the Standard Guarantee apply to a Second Look® Review?

The Standard Guarantee applies to all Second Look review returns that meet H&R Block’s preparation standards. When the return does not meet H&R Block’s preparation standard, the client is so advised and no guarantee is extended, unless the client amends or prepares their return with H&R Block.
