RSL (BLUE) V. STORM (B) LOST 7-1
Undoubtedly this would have to be our best game of the season, so far. The last time we played this team we lost 15-0 and to hold them to 7-1 is testimony of the supreme effort contributed by each and every player. We came into the game with a number of players injured, including two of our regular catchers. Hannah donned the catchers gear and played extremely well in that position all game earning her the player of the match trophy. Although, the player of the match title could easily be applied to everyone in the team. Jaime pitched excellently in the first three innings allowing Storm to score only five runs (two in the first, three in the second and none in the third). Her pitching was backed up by some very fancy fielding. Amber took three HUGE catches from Left Outfield, one of which was taken just behind third base. Nadine took an equally impressive running catch from Centre-field in the third innings, whilst Lauren effected some good throw outs from third base to first, before pitching the last three innings, during which she also took two high infield catches. Coaches are always stressing to players the importance of calling for the ball and Lauren did this well by yelling IVE GOT IT.I Think when a super high fly ball came her way. This becomes our champion quote of the game. Lizzie, who is still carrying an arm injury from three weeks ago, batted and fielded courageously. Throughout the game catches on first base were taken cleanly by Janet and Nadine and Rebecca took an impressive tag on third base in the last innings, which is also when Storm scored their last two runs. Our only run, which we acquired in the first innings, was scored by Ciara, who began the play with a three base bunt. The only regret of the day is that the coach, David James Michael Patrick McGowen (was he really given all those names at birth and shouldnt there be an Esquire on the end), couldnt be there to see the girls play so well. Keep up the good work girls (and lady).
