CRAWL FOR JUSTICE
Scheduled Events:
WHAT: COALITION PRESS CONFERENCE
– “Access to Justice”: An event to educate the media regarding what
is at stake for people with disabilities in Tennessee v. Lane.
WHEN: January 12, 2004 at 11 AM
WHERE: Senate Office Building TBA
Capitol Hill Washington, DC (Metro Stop: Union Station)
WHO: All supporters of the ADA
and disability rights are encouraged to join us to demonstrate community
support for George Lane, Beverly Jones, and the other plaintiffs
in this historic case. Speakers will include leaders from the disability
and civil rights communities, as well as Members of Congress.
------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT: “CRAWL FOR JUSTICE”: Demonstrating
solidarity with George Lane (who was forced to crawl up the courthouse
steps) and the other plaintiffs, volunteers will crawl up the steps
of the Supreme Court. Come and show your support even if you do
not want to crawl!
WHEN: January 13, 2004 at 9:00
AM
WHERE: U.S. Supreme Court Washington,
DC (Metro Stop: Union Station)
WHO: Supporters of the ADA and
disability rights (willing to risk
possible arrest for civil disobedience) are planning to crawl up
the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court on the morning of the oral
arguments. The event is intended to illustrate the humiliation
Lane and others have been forced to endure because of the lack of
access to justice. It is not intended to disrupt or inhibit court
activities in any manner.
All are welcome – and needed –
to participate!
*** If you cannot come to DC, organize
a "Crawl for Justice" at a
courthouse near you!

WHAT: ORAL ARGUMENTS in Tenn. v. Lane
WHEN: January 13, 2004 at 10AM
WHERE: U.S. Supreme Court Washington, DC (Metro Stop: Union

WHO: All. Please make inquiries
with your Congressman or Senator if tickets are available to their
constituents. The other alternative is to arrive several hours early
at the US Supreme Court in order to maximize the likelihood that
you’ll be admitted to the building to hear oral arguments.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

WHERE: Gewirz Student Center Georgetown
University School of Law,
12th Floor 120 F St., NW Washington, DC (Metro Stop: Union
