The Antique band is comprised by two young Greeks that have born and grown up in Getenborg of Sweeden: Elena Paparizou and Nikos Panagiotidis.
With their first album they manage to succeed this that others were trying for years: The award and the accomplishment away from Greece. Their singles "Dinata - Dinata" and "Opa - Opa" has entered the Scandinavian TOP-10, surpassing ther big hits of famous pop stars like Madona, Britney Spears, Lou Bega,Jennifer Lopez etc. and that way they earn a candidacy in Swedish Grammy, that in Scandinavian countries they r equal in fame and prestige with the american Grammy Music Awards. Besides, Sweeden is a country with big tradition in pop and rock music, cause from there many bands have began their carier, such as, Abba,Ace of Base,Cardigans. As Antique were singing in Greek,they have conquer N.Europe with sales that were more than 100,000 copies.They succeed making famous the Greek modern mousic.
Their first single "Dinata - Dinata" became the favourite song of clubs and started making Antique famous in their country! Nikos and Elena r charmed of this challenge, that makes them feel very very proud,cause even they leave and work in Sweeden, they call themselves GREEKS and their music Greek!!
So,now it's prouved that the Greek music in combination with the European beat can be succesfull in whole world. Their confidence is prouved inside their album "Mera me ti Mera" that includes 3 remakes of famous Greek Hits and that the most of their songs r written in Greek lyrics. Antique took part in the European Song Contest (ESC), in 2001 with the single "I WOULD DIE FOR U" with English and Greek Lyrics,that was written by Nikos Terzis and Antonis Papas, and they succeed the 3rd place...that was the highest place Greece ever had!!!
