| Dr. Nader M. Ibrahim is Associate Professor of Maritime and Commercial Law at the College of Maritime Transport and Technology, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST), Alexandria, Egypt and visiting lecturer in Conflict of Laws (Private International Law) at the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University (AU), Egypt. Dr. Ibrahim obtained his LLB in 1989 (AU), DESS Public Law in 1991 (AU), DESS Private Law in 1992 (AU), LLM International Business Law in 1994 (Institut de droit des affaires internationales, CU), Dip. International Transport and Logistics in 1996 (AAST) and LLD International Commercial Arbitration (honors) in 1998 (AU). From June, 2003 to June 2006 Dr. Ibrahim was on an advising secondment to Abu Dhabi Sea Port Authority, UAE (now the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, since Feb, 2006). Dr. Ibrahim joined AAST in 1995 following a 6-year of free practice of law in a number of international law firms (inter alia, , Shalakany Law Office). He is a previous ICC arbitration trainee (Paris, 1994) and ICSID project's assistant (Washington DC, 1996). Dr. Ibrahim ws admitted to the Egyptian Bar Association in 1990 as a trainee eligible to advocacy before Primary Courts, promoted to a full lawyer eligible to advocacy before Summary Courts in 1993 and finally eligibel to advocacy before Courts of Appeal and State Council in 1998. In addition to his full-time academic career, Dr. Ibrahim is a part-time practitioner of law; he particularly acted as expert witness on Egyptian law before USA courts (written submission), counsel for arbitration claimants (Cases Nos. 1/2001 and 2/2001 at Alexandria Centre for International Maritime Arbitration) and served as elected co-arbitrator (Case No. 265/2001 at Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration). Dr. Ibrahim is the author of a number of law books and articles on maritime and commercial law and speaker to a number of local and international conferences (inter alia, the IBA International Maritime Law Conference, Dubai 6-7, 2006). Dr. Ibrahim is the author of many law books and articles on Maritime and Commercial law and contributor to international legal research (e.g., Implementation of the 1989 Salvage Convention in UAE). Dr. Ibrahim is a member of many Egyptian Societies, inter alia: the International Law Society, the Legisaltion, Statistics and Political Economics Society and the Maritime Society. |
