Go to this link, then klick on "neighboring towns", then klick on "Klayaa" and see the pictures of the hometown of many of the South Lebanese Army refugees hometown. They came to Israel on May 22, 2000, with the withdrawal of the Israeli Defense Forces from Lebanon. Since then the live in many of the towns of Israel, in mine too. We have many friends and protegees, and we work together to create them a better future.

This is their story

It is important that I tell this story and that it will be brought into the public light, because it is a sad story of how Israel made mistakes treating its allies, once their military role ended

With the withdrawal of the IDF, 7600 South Lebanese, some 2500 families found themselves leaving their home in a hurry, in a matter of hours. No warning has been given to them by the IDF officers that worked with them shoulder to shoulder since 1976.

Many of them left families, homes, lands and many, many personal belongings, jewelry, cars and weapoms behind. In a couple of hours thay became homless, sleeping on the shore of the lake Kinnereth, on a spot that has earlier prepared for a large gathering to welcome the Pope wh visited Israel that year.

Many will not forget that night, nor the unorganized flee from Lebanon. Their children asked the mothers whether they should take their study books, as some prepared for June's final tests in school. Others were on vacation from the Beirut University or other schools and jumped into the family car while still wearing pajamas, and this s how they crossed the border to Israel on that sad day.
