Free scenery add on for MS Combat Flight Simulator - 1
This scenery was made two years ago but was undistributed.
Originally made for Wreckerman at The Combat Flight Center. There are 2 simular versions of this scenery but only this one contains the USS Wreckerman aircraft carrier. There are 12 usable carriers in this scenery with several other ships, search lights etc. The carriers are named after popular CFC add on artists and will be listed in the airfield menu when you set up a game.
You can take off, land and refuel on the decks of all the carriers except the damaged german ones

Graphics such as moving water, waves, dust kicked up by moving ground units etc are a real cool feature in any game but how much can you do graphic-wise without sacrificing the whole intention of the game. I know many simulation fans enjoy things such as watching a boat or ship sink in a realistic way, aircraft being damaged and ground units destroyed in good visual detail so it leads to the big question of "Where do you draw the line and do you have to draw any lines at all ?

Features such as moving water should be limited by options available to the host of the game allowing the player to select REALISTIC SCENARIOS or REALISTIC GRAPHICS... all available in various levels of detail allowing players to tone down or tone up the quality of the game to agree better with their own personal computor

I am one of thousands (mabe millions) who will judge parts of the game by the graphics but I know that in the end I enjoy game features much more such as the detail of sinking ships, the destructive blasts of bombs hitting their targets, intelligent AI units flying along with me on or off line and as Oleg has done... the ground troops involved in fierce battles that at some times you just want to land the aircraft and watch the action. Oleg is just that damn good, no doubt about it.

Oleg is now trying new areas of game developement by using combinations of drivers and modifiable game engines so there is a very good chance he will be able to do what is past due in combat flight simulation games ... mainly better action from the ground units in on line multiplayer games.
Sure IL2 is a flight sim based on ww2 air combat but in simulating a war there should be a great deal of AI units involved and I believe it is the right time to add a bit more to the way AI is handled.  There should be an interface which will allow 2 players to select the option of being COMMANDERS.
There should be one allied and one enemy commander with both working from a dift player interface than the players who are the aircraft pilots.(Aircraft pilots would use the standard aircraft pilot interface

There should be a satelite type map view for these commanders with the map having icons to show allied and enemy units. The units can have optional identification tags so you will know what is out there. There should be ability to right click an icon on the map and get a drop down menu with commands to select from such as ATTACK AGRESSIVELY (attacks till enemy destroyed, out of amo or makes a successful retreat), ATTACK WITH STRATEGY (this will cause the unit to use more strategy in it's attacks such as hiding behind objects or  retreat out of range) SEEK FUEL / REPAIRS / AMO (unit will seek friendly supply) just as quick examples as the commands can be many with a good imagination. This could apply to the AI aircraft as well, to include ships, aircraft carriers, landing craft, infantry units, armor units....  it could get pretty exciting.

Add to the COMMANDERS INTERFACE some options for camera views which will allow the player to get a closer up view of the unit he has selected to give commands to and he should be able to watch the action up close with a realistic determined range of view.
There are many RTS games with such interface for commands but having a combination of the two would without doubt be the most innovative concept in combat flight sim games. There are many things overlooked in most combat flight sim games as the focus is primarily on flight, rightfully so but without the interaction of the players and AI units it's just another good flight sim. I hope to see Oleg Maddox take us up out of this rut the flight sims have been stuck in all these years.
