Collective bargaining consists of negotiations between an employer and a group of employees to determine the conditions of employment. and come up with a collective agreement. Employees are often represented in bargaining by a union or other labor organization.
Collective bargaining is governed by federal and state laws which protect employees against unfair practices by employers or unions. The National Labor Relations Board investigates and remedies unfair labor practices according to the National Labor Relations Act.
