| The Sad State of the 'Lair' |
| You all know how little I like the way things are now on the 'Lair of the Sorceress' Ultima Online shard, right? So how are the little gippers doing now? Well, your friend Nabisco went back to his old haunting place to see how or even if the place had changed at all - NL
Funny thing. Way back when, during the altercation with Gwennyvere, a lot of nasty stuff was said to me on the shard's message board. Naturally I gave as good as I got (perhaps I should even say I gave a lot back better). However, since I've been gone, the board has been so dead my post in question can still be found near the top. Oh, and if by any chance you can't find that topic post (due to acts of God or unforseen), I was kind enough to take screen captures of the postings. I thought it would be a good idea to use those to quote from, rather than just copy and paste text, in case anybody forgot what they had said ;) Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4 Image 5 Image 6 Image 7 Image 8 How's THAT for publicity, eh? Consider, though, that all of those replies (with the exception of the sour-ass Admin) came from the same guild as Gwennyvere. You should also note how many posts MArtist X has made. Want to know why? I get the impression he suffers from "lasts laugh" syndrome, where he has to be the last person to reply in a message board, or he explodes or something. As for Gwenny? Oh she didn't exactly hold up to her end of the bargain. She couldn't even stop thinking about me in real life! Apparently making fun of her Elven race and accent really got to her. Gee. The altercation continued for a good week after this point, including a point where Gwenny forced a 'private' (with all shard staff listening, heh) chat which just regressed into her continuing whining. I honestly cannot believe that a married 40 year-old woman would act this way, do you? Sure, I'm allowed to be a jerk and an idiot, but it's my right as a youngn'. What's her excuse? Worried that Gwenny might shoot herself or suffer a nervous break down, I sent her guild leader a fruit basket as a gift. I didn't know the leader lacked a sense of humour. She called me small-brained, in-game, and sent it back. The same day Gwenny made fun of me for the admin putting my pants on a flag pole in Britain. About the same time, the guild leader dedicated an entire section to players they didn't like on their own message board. Funny, with the timing and all. Plus, you might notice, since I left LOTS, they haven't mentioned any other players ... which I commented on, naturally, and was treated to this. So if who we are in real life is so easily determine from what we do in a stupid game, then I guess from Trinity's findings I'd have to weep for most of the players on that shard. Such sad, shallow people, then. I like to hope, though, that maybe in real life they're better than Trinity says. So that was what it was like in the past, and I bet you're wondering how it's going now. Well, I can sum it up with one word - boring. These die-hard little gaming gnats log on, mine rocks by themselves, hang out somewhere hoping to run into someone to chat about something completely asinine, and then log off. The quests by the staff have become ... boring, if not downright pointless, as much of the shard has become. When I started playing on LOTS, there was so much activity, so much life and creativity. Now it's just ... BORINGWant proof? Check out Trokair. Have you ever seen a more desperate attempt to rally up some fun in a shard? What about poor Suicidal Hamster, jailed for having fun. I tried to help Hamster, but Abby just deleted my post - I was just suggesting some other shards he might enjoy - this again shows the level of people we're dealing with, here. The message board doesn't seem to be used any more, except for dumb gits or staff reminding you how lame they are. So today, as it was before, the 'Lair of the Sorceress' shard is nothing but a haven for staff too drunk on their spooty UO game privileges to care about players, and a player base where the majority is taken up by dim-witted UO addicts and the minority of cool (roleplaying or funloving) players are PUNISHED for being different! This pathetic UO shard, along with cellphones ("prostitutions of technology"), should be wiped clean off the Earth. I feel sorry that it's so easy to make fun of this shard - that should tell you something about it right there. The 'Lair of the Sorceress' flaberghasts me. |
