Descriptions of Committees
Membership
This committee is composed of members who organize and conduct
new member campaigns. The challenge of this committee is to work
out the year to maintain and increase the membership Association.
The duties of the committee are to carry on membership drives throughout
the campus, to work in coordination with the Press and Publicity committee
to publicize membership campaigns, and to motivate and inspiring members to
reach and achieve goals. This committee is great for Mass Communication Majors.
Press, Publicity, & Communication
This committee shall endeavor to secure publicity for the work of the Chapter
in the local press, television, radio and other outlets. This committee shall also
seek to counteract derogatory, stereotypical, and erroneous statements or views in the
campus and local media about African Americans and other minority groups. The duties of
the committee are to get to know the press in the campus community -
The All State & Channel 99, send NAACP Collegiate Chapter literature to the local campus
press for future reference, and seek to promote media content consistent
with NAACP Collegiate Chapter goals. This committee is great for Business and Public Relations Majors.
Health
This committee shall work to promote, protect and address the health needs of African
Americans, increase access to specific health needs of the community, and advocate for
equal health education, treatment, and research. This committee is great for
Health and Nursing Majors.
Education
This focus of this committee is to protect the rights of all children to equal educational
opportunities. The committee on Education shall work with the NAACP youth council of
Clarksville, TN, familiarize itself with textbook material used in the local school and seek
to eliminate racially derogatory material and seek to promote and stimulate school
attendance and higher test scores. This committee is great for Education majors,
Sociology & Social Work Majors and Psychology Majors.
Community Coordination
This committee keeps in touch with all student and community organizations and enlists
their support in programs to insure the rights of minority and underrepresented students.
The work of this committee can be a challenge! This committee is great for all majors.
Political Action
This committee seeks to address and protect the political interests of African American
students and other minority groups on campus. This committee shall also seek to increase
registration, education, and voting participation. They shall work to improve the
administration of justice and work to secure equal enforcement on the law. This committee
is great for Political Science and Pre-Law Majors.
Freedom Fund (Fundraising)
This committee raises funds for the Collegiate Chapter that will supports the overall work
of the Chapter. This committee is a MUST for ever Chapter and has the responsibility for
planning all fundraising events. This committee is great for Marketing, Mass Communication
and Public Relations Majors.
