The name is Umakanta Nongthombam, but to my friends I'm always UK.
Im from Manipur, a small state nestled majestically in the north eastern corner of India.
A land gifted in abundance with natures's beauty. Ever wonder of a valley some 1000 feets above the sea .. surrounded by 7 range of mountains from all side .. dotted by a grand lake in the middle of it.
THats Manipur - My only paradise on earth.

I'm your average kinda guy, average in all respect, with a deep penchant on music.
I was never your role model in school. But yes, I do manage to be among the top grade in class.
Life did have taken many a turns. I never thought I'd be here, where I am.But am I glad I'm here.

As a kid, I was - as my mom says, a mischief in the house ela your denis the menace ;), always on the loose, play whole day long.
Sometimes a bully in the neighbourhood. But I dunno when, how it all changed. Maybe thats a lot to do with the kind of attention I got from my Grandma,mom and dad. I'll always cherished you 'Abok'.
Wherever I go, wherever I am , I know you are always there to help me.
Mom , dad - I love you so much for being such a wonderful parents. What I am is all because of you.

All my formative years, I been at home, close to all my love and near ones.
Yes, those were the days that really put a shape on me.

First day in school, Nirmalabas , one of the very few boys in the class.
The nasty fight I had after school,that was 1st grade - Bona do u still remember, I still do.

How many times I had to do the homework at the corridor!!
First and last time I tried to sing on a podium.Forgot the song in the middle.
First time in a play,though the only thing I did was dance,

My school days in DonBosco Imphal - What all can I say about it.
Those were the best days.
The days when I still had my innocence with me.
The days where I learnt the many facets of life.
I still feel nostalgic thinking of it.
The many bouts of 'sua' we played in the break, nevermind the sun and the rain.
The many secretive climb on the top of the church, with always the element of fears lurking at our back.
The first exposure to computer.LOGO was what we learnt.
I still remember the many stickers and name plate we were after in the break, we'd be just hovering around that guy.
The 'kheshrii' we had, the fight for the plate and spoon.
Old building soon graduate to new building.
'sua' became a child's play, no moreindulgence in it. Football was something where we tried to kick as high as possible.
Cricket was the IN thing.
But still the academic race goes on - Brainee, Somorjit, I was always the 3rd best, behind you.
But still I can outrun you on the race track !! :)
Science Exhibition was an excuse to check on the girls.Autograph was to go beyond that.
Quiz, talent search - time to show what we can do.
Meantime, Auto soon gradute to van.
Teachers day - time to rock, break dance.
1993 - Tuitions,STAR, The first real crush. The first love letters. Maths and science competitions.
Last year at school. Fashion show, Phoenix rock the campus, Ringo - Hotel California was a hit.
Atlast I tried the Guitar, yeah it fits to my hand, it still do ;)
Beatles soon graduate to GNR, then Nirvana, Metallica.
The last day at school. Still have my unwashed school shirt as a momento.
Summer of 94, HSLCE exams - a big push to life.Life changes.

Manipur Public School was the next stop.
Whole new bunch of people. Bus ride.
I can say, I got lost a bit there.
The first bunk from class.
Proxy attendence. College festival.
Footbal revisited. Engg Drawing made up my mind on what Im gonna be.
Resnick haliday,GYMM, Guitar, party, picnics - all go hand in hand.
Discover Sekmai. The first drag.
Suddenly, its the 1996, IIT-JEE, NDA - what not.
AISSCE came and gone. Time to go on.
The whole life is ahead.

2 weeks in Mangalore, Bangalore - all paid vacations provided by my parents.
Exposure to indian railway. Thats another story - the whole trip.
Medical, Engg - on everyone's lips. I was never a med guy, so I took up engg.
ECE in Tamil nadu. Madras, here I come.
Msdras greets me with that hot summer of 96. Then Coimbatore, Amrita Institute.
Hostel, new language, new people.
4 years that shaped my life.
Kalapani was what we called our hostel.
Football, Gym, bhajan, yoga, comp lab, internet, lab - all in one.
And I still have my guitar.
Semesters came and gone. Exam was something we realise during the study vacation.
Diode,lathe, Oscillator, Diff Amp, Normal curve, Poisson's distribution, Apogee, perigee, Z-transform,Fourier series, wave guides, VLSI, Fortran, C, java, FTP, Coder-Decoder,Linear transformation..
the list goes on...
Hotel California on stage .. Holi .. yahoo!,chat room,MIRC,talkcity. GRE, GMAT, Pub.
Ooty, Cochin, Hyderabad, Bangalore ....
final year - CAT dreams shattered,Project in 7 days. Campus selection, aptitude test, GDs, final interview.
Dishnet DSL was where I had to live my next phase of life.

And my innocence got lost after that.
8 months of customer support, been to every nook and corner in Chennai.
Then the IT dreams got bigger..
Have to join the IT bandwagon ..
And here I am ... still.. its a little more than 3 years now ...
And I landed in Mumbai, the city where your dreams come true ..
Its for the wannabe movie star though, not for me ..;)).
Local train, BEST bus is the best, Pani puri on Juhu beach, pao bhaji ,.. SEEPZ, somehow I came of age ..
