Someone brought this article to me and I thought it was just appalling how they can blame Justin for this girl's suicide. I really suggest you read it and youcan see what I mean. http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news0900/sync.html
Here is another article that someone sent me about how people think the lyrics of todays teen sensations are making teenagers today do some bad things. Again I think you guys should read it because some of the lyrics that they say promote "sex" are really off the wall. (It is kinda long but the article first describes BSB lyrics then NSYNC and then Britney So just scroll down to what part you want to read.) http://www.av1611.org/othpubls/teenidol.html
Teen pop rules the charts and hearts of young America!!Interesting article on the "Teen Pop" craze. It talks about *Nsync as well. http://www.post-gazette.com/magazine/20000820teen1.asp

They May Be Singing "Bye, Bye, Bye" To Stadiums Full Of Screaming Fans, But 'N Sync Are Here To Stay By: Jason Cohen
"Looking cute, sugar!" 'N Sync's Chris Kirkpatrick whoops. "Does your momma let you walk around like that? Looking ghetto fabulous!" Kirkpatrick's you-go-girl routine is directed at Lance Bass, who's livening up some pre-photo shoot downtime by strutting around in bad-boy threads: first a pair of spangled ripped, derriere-revealing denims, then a cowboy hat and brown chaps ensemble that's part "Midnight Cowboy" and part Calvin Klein ad. "You should just wear the chaps," says Joey Fatone, leaning his head back so a stylist can remove the stubble that's sprouted up around his trademark goatee. "They may say we're clean-cut boys," Fatone says, smirking, "but not clean-shaven." And not always pure of mind, either: One chair over from Fatone, Justin Timberlake may or may not be enjoying his red leather trousers, which are a lesson in style over comfort. "There pants are so tight," the curly-haired heartthrob cracks, "it's like I'm having sex with myself." Yes, the guys of 'N Sync are definitely fun to be around—even when they should be dog-tired. After all, the Orlando-based singing group—Timberlake, 19; Bass, 21; Fatone, 23; JC Chasez, 24, and Kirkpatrick, 28—is at the tail end of a 52-city North American tour. Last night they performed before a 40,000-plus audience at Foxboro Stadium outside Boston, and in just a few hours, they're going to do it all over again. More than one million people have caught the show, putting an exclamation point on a run of success that began in March when No Strings Attached, 'N Sync's second CD, smashed records for both first-day (approximately one million) and first-week (2.4 million) sales. Six months ago, 'N Sync were merely stars; now they can lay claim to the title of biggest pop group in the country.Success, of course, breeds activity. This fall the band will continue its North American tour, release an IMAX concert film and start work on a new record, with all five members taking a more active part in songwriting and producing. 'N Sync is also working on a movie, but before any critics start digging up their reviews of "Spiceworld" for possible recycling, consider this: The band will not be playing themselves, and the film won’t necessarily feature any music. "We're actually going to make a real movie," Bass says. "We want to challenge ourselves to do something different."Somewhere in there the boys are due to get a week's vacation, too. But first comes the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. 'N Sync got six nominations, including Best Video of the Year and Viewer's Choice for their "Bye, Bye, Bye" video. They will also perform on the show, which means the pressure is on to top last year's appearance with Britney Spears."It was definitely fun performing with Britney," says Timberlake, who is reportedly dating Spears. "I'd do it again." As in Oops!...I'd Do It Again? Don't get your hopes up. "I wouldn't expect Britney to turn up again," Bass says. "But maybe Eminem—you never know."Ah, yes. Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady"—which includes 'N Sync among the many, many things that annoy him—has also been nominated for six awards. Still, all the members of 'N Sync are huge Eminem fans. "Love him," Timberlake says. "He's a supertalented artist."While Eminem would like to think that he and 'N Sync are operating in different cultural worlds, the truth is that they're hitting much the same audience. "That's the cool thing about music right now," Chasez says. "People are a lot more open-minded. People are listening to rap, rock—it's just not trends anymore. Hopefully, that makes way for a longer career for us."Tom Calderone, MTV's senior vice president of music programming and talent, thinks 'N Sync's longevity "is going to be attained by how relevant they stay with their fan base. Right now, they can do no wrong."Maybe not, but should No Strings Attached end up selling 10, 12 or even 14 million records, statistically speaking, there's nowhere to go but down. "At this point in our career," says Timberlake, "we just want to evolve with our core audience. That's what the Stones did. That's what a lot of legends do."The 19-year-old pauses, perhaps imagining himself at Mick Jagger's age. "By then," he says, "we probably won't be dancing as much." |

Entertainment Tonight: What is this like for you? You have had a lot of success already, but this McDonalds thing looks like it is going to be big.
CHRIS KIRKPATRICK: It is awesome! We get to be on the cups and the fries! We are making them collector's items. Even though they aren't, we are collecting them. ET: What is your favorite food here at McDonalds?
LANCE BASS: The apple pies, but we like the fried apple pies. We are starting a new campaign called "Bring Back the Fried Apple Pies!"
ET: Tell us about the CD. What can your fans expect?
Justin: Well, we had a big hit called "Bye Bye Bye." There is a really cool remix that Teddy Reilly did. Other than that, there is an acappella song that we have on our album. There are also two tracks that have never been released before. It is really cool to get to show our fans new music. A lot of our fans go to McDonalds so that makes everything easier.
ET: Who wants to talk on HBO?
Chris: I thought we were on ET?
ET: You are, but tell us about it.
Lance: HBO is going to be awesome. It is just like McDonalds. It is such a prestigious thing to do. We have watched all of the specials that they have done, and this is the biggest one. They have 32 cameras. It is going to be huge. It will be live at Madison Square Garden. So if we mess up, you will see it. It is going to be so fun.
ET: Your Detroit show is going to be done for the big screen too, right?
Justin: Yes, for Eye Works. It is going to be in giant screen format. It will be eight stories high. A lot of it will be shown in Europe. We are not going to be over there touring, but we are going to be over there doing promotions for Eye Works.
ET: You do have busy schedules. A lot of people want to know your every move. It looks like this behind the scenes video is going to give your fans what they want.
Chris: This guy here actually runs the camera for us. It is Joey's brother. He captures our every day lives. They are going to get to see what our personalities are like off the camera. We are so use to him just hanging out. They will get to see a different side to us.
ET: Is this all fun for you, the whole McDonalds campaign and commercials?
Justin: Totally! We have fun with everything that we do. We love the music that we do and the fans. Before we had fans, we just loved the music. Now that we have fans, we love them too! And we love McDonalds!
ET: Is this all publicity, the Justin and Britney thing?
JOSHUA CHASEZ: The engagement thing was no stunt. BRITNEY SPEARS is a friend of ours.
ET: Are you engaged?
Justin: No!
ET: Are you okay with this, all of the rumors?
Joshua: It is all a bunch of crap. Somebody made it up. I think that it is a crummy thing for someone to do. Somebody in Europe wrote it down and everyone just picked up on it. I think it is ridiculous that people go that far to bring attention to their paper.

By Fred Mitchell MUSICAL YOUTH 'N Sync: Live From Madison Square Garden (8 pm/ET, HBO)
Tonight the planet's fastest-selling pop-music group visits the world's most famous arena, and producer-director Marty Callner will be on hand to catch the multiplatinum quintet in the act for HBO's live telecast (tape delay on the West Coast). Callner, whose TV-concert credits include Garth Brooks: Live in Central Park and Bette Midler: Diva Las Vegas, says 'N Sync presents a special challenge because, "We usually focus on one person, but you have five equal stars with 'N Sync."
Callner will try to keep his cameras trained on all five, namely Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. With their poster-boy good looks, tight harmonies and sharply choreographed dance moves, the guys have been playing to packed houses full of screaming fans at every stop on their 41-city North American tour.
Tonight's concert will feature songs from their latest CD, No Strings Attached, that show off the group's expanding musical palette, such as "Bye Bye Bye," which rocks more than we expect 'N Sync to, and "Just Got Paid," which stirs a little hip-hop influence into the mix. Other numbers expected to be part of their set are "I Want You Back," "This I Promise You," "Tearin' Up My Heart" and "No Strings Attached." And Callner has the tools (a 30-camera shoot) and the talent to make this broadcast soar.
[For those fans hungry for an encore, 'N Sync will perform Friday morning on NBC's Today.] |

The News of the World, Britains biggest selling tabloid, quoted a friend close to the couple as saying Timberlake, 19, proposed to the chart-topping Spears two weeks ago in New York. They were in a cafe, having a coffee when Justin pulled out this ring Britney was speechless, the source told the newspaper. If true, the eye-popping engagement would break the hearts of teen-agers and some adults around the world. They havent set a date for the big day, the source said to the newspaper. Theyre just taking things very slowly. The engagement is a very private matter to them. I dont think theyve even told their parents. Spears, 18, has sold millions of records around the globe with her youthful energy and catchy dance tunes.Known Each Other Since 93Spears and Timberlake have known each other for a long time appearing together on The Mickey Mouse Club in 1993. The paper said the pair have been dating on and off since November 1998. Its all very exciting, the source said to the newspaper. They may only be teen-agers, but they havent got any money problems. The British media have linked the blonde-haired singer with a number of celebrities, including Britains Prince William. Reuters contributed to this report. Spears, Timberlake Just Friends
ABCnews.com July 9, 2000
Turns out that rumors of pop divette Britney Spears wedding Justin Timberlake of N Sync are just that rumors. A British tabloid reported that he popped the question.
Reigning queen of pop music Britney Spears isnt getting hitched so fast or rather, not fast enough for the British tabloids.
The News of the World, Britains biggest-selling tabloid, quoted a friend close to the couple as saying Timberlake, 19, proposed to the chart-topping Spears two weeks ago in New York. However, this turns out to have been untrue.
The tabloid reported he popped the question two weeks ago and that not even their parents knew.
Another British paper, the Sun, quoted Spears as saying, Were just friends. We have hung out before, although its nothing serious. Nuptials was a hot topic for the pop diva, as the Sun also reported she would love to marry Prince William. Even though they have never met, she said, Marry Prince William? I would love that. After all, who wouldnt want to be a princess?
Spears, 18, has sold millions of records around the globe with her youthful energy and catchy dance tunes.
Known Each Other Since 93
Spears and Timberlake have known each other for a long time appearing together on The Mickey Mouse Club in 1993.
The paper said the pair have been dating on and off since November 1998.
Its all very exciting, the source said to the newspaper. They may only be teenagers, but they havent got any money problems.
Not long ago, the guys from N Sync said that theyd be joining Britney Spears for a British tour in October. Both acts were looking forward to the collaboration, because theyre both such good friends. Unfortunately, the plan has now been called off.
N Syncs No Strings Attached tour has been such a big hit that the group has decided to remain in the U.S. and add another leg to their tour. Those dates will keep them on the road through December, so they wont be getting over to the U.K. this year. However, Britneys record company says that her British tour is still on shell just have to do it without her pals.
Meanwhile, N Sync have rescheduled their Chicago area show, which was canceled after the wind blew over their stage. Fans who bought tickets for the June 25 show can now use them for the make-up concert, scheduled for August 1. The British media have linked the blond Spears with a number of celebrities, including Britains Prince William. |

Here's an *Nsync article from Entertainment Tonight Online from May 1st! |
|
|
|
Entertainment Tonight: How does it feel? Here you are at the first premiere of your first movie!
Lance Bass: It's definitely a dream come true. It's something we worked really, really hard on. It's our heart and soul on this one.
ET: This movie has been shrouded in secrecy for so long. What's it about?
JC Chasez: We are not going to give it all away, but we will say that there's a very big musical element to it. The music is very important in this movie. It's exciting. There's a lot of young talent. Overall it's just a well-rounded movie. There's something for everyone.
Chris Kirkpatrick: Tell him about the boat.
ET: Is there something about a boat?
Chris: A big boat. But I can't give away the ending...it sinks.
Lance Bass: Yeah, Chris does all his own stunts.
ET:I know you guys in this movie -- there's got to be some lip-locking with some beautiful leading ladies. Who's going to be doing that job?
Joey Fatone: I had to make sure I did the screen test for every beautiful lady that auditioned. I had to kiss every single one of them. It got a little tiring, but you know...
ET: Which is the guy that's going to rip his shirt off and run down the beach?
Chris: That's Joey too.
Joey: No, actually I ripped off my pants.
Justin Timberlake: But he didn't mean to do that.
Lance: Joey originally wrote in his own nude scene for the movie, but it got canceled.
Joey: They need a bigger lens for my butt.
Chris: They call his nude scene "The Working Plumber."
Joey: Actually, that's the movie that's coming out after this. Our second movie.
ET: Who do you look up to as an actor? Who inspires you, who do you want to be?
Chris: SCARY SPICE.
Lance: I like TOM HANKS, He's one of my favorite actors.
Justin: I like feel-good movies so ROBIN WILLIAMS. I like action films too HARRISON FORD is good.
ET: What about the rest of you?
Joey: DUSTIN HOFFMAN, AL PACINO and ROBERT DeNIRO.
JC: I like Harrison Ford.
ET: Is it a lot harder working on a movie than a music video?
Joey: A little bit. We work early early hours. Cool thing -- even though we are on location -- we are always in the same place, not traveling eight million different places. You know what I'm saying?
Lance: The great thing about being on location is that you're in one place for months at a time. Like LA. When we promote and do tours we are in a different city every night. So at least you go home and sleep in one bed.
ET: Are you going tohave other actors -- big stars -- in the movie?
Chris: Oh yeah.
Lance: You will definitely know a lot of people in this movie.
ET: Who's on the wish list?
JC: You know what? You are just going to have to see the movie, man.
Joey: There's going to be some familiar faces in there, and a lot of new faces.
ET: Is it going to be more music-oriented, or is it going to be about you guys as real guys?
Chris: We will definitely play fictional characters. We will not play ourselves.
ET: Will there be a lot of dance numbers with new music?
Lance: Yeah, there will be music. We wanted to make a movie for 2000. Since music is so hot right now, we wanted to combine that with action. It's a movie for everybody.
Joey: Plus the soundtrack is going to be phenomenal. It's the same with our album. We are going to have a lot of different collaborations with different people.
ET: How do you feel about going to Cannes? Have you been to France?
JC: Yeah, we've been to Paris. We are excited. This is going to be an entirely new crowd. The music scene is our scene and we have gotten used to it. It's a new world to be with actors and directors and producers. We are going to check out their parties and see how they do.
ET: I think you guys are going to be bigger movie stars than you are musicians, if that's possible. Does it get any bigger than this?
Lance: You always got to go to that next level in whatever you do. So let's see what's next.
ET: Best of luck -- knock them dead. |
