She was fine when she took the first few steps into the room, but then suddenly her head exploded in pain. She couldn�t help but cry out as she feel to her knees, cluching her head in her hands. Withen seconds she was surrounded by the four men, even thought she was completle unaware of there presance. �Cassie? CASS?!� Justin paniced as he shook her shoulder. �Lance, call 911.� Jc ordered even as Lance was dialing the numbers. Cassie continued whimpering in pain on the floor as the four men looked on in helplessness, Lance with his cell phone to his ear. She sat in the passanger seat, next to her in the drivers seat Joey, the grin he was wearing when she ran into him in the studio still plastered on his face. The grin faltered for a moment and he grimaced as one of Nsync songs came on the radio and he quickly reached down to switch the station. He stoped and leaned back once again when he found one that was playing a Destiny�s Child song. Cassie then noticed for the first time that they were in Justin�s car and not Joey�s own, which ment that he must have somehow swiped Justin�s keys when the boy wasn�t looking. She giggled when she thought about how Justin would tear into his friend later. Her attention was then directed out the front window, and then quickly diverted agin when from the corner of her eye she saw a flash of movement. A puppy ran across the road followed by a young child. Joey�s eyes widened as he slamed the brakes. Nothing happened. Quickly he swerved the wheel to the right, Cassie screamed as the large trunk of the tree quickly came closer... Just as soon as the pain began it stoped. Only then did she become aware of the people around her. She struggled to get up but was help down by Justin. �Let me up!� She struggled against him, but he wasn�t giving. �Justin! let me go!� �No, your going to wait for the ambulance.� He commanded. �Damit Justin! I�m fine, but Joey won�t be if you don�t let me up!� �What?� Jc asked as he grew riggid. Justin finally let her up and she immediatly jumped to her feet. �The brakes in Justin�s car are out.� She began frantically as she began for the door. �Wait, what does that have to do with Joey?� �He took your car.� She stated as she began running down the hallway, almost running head on into Blaire. �Whoa, where�s the fire?� He asked as he steadyed them.She didn�t awnser, insteed she pushed his hands away and continued on her way. If she was lucky, she would get to Joey before he even put the vehicle in gear. Blaire watched her run by, quickly followed by four of the five members of Nsync. He shook his head as he to continued on his way down the hall. Cassie pushed the doors open, her head immediatly turning to the right where Justin�s car had been parked that morning. It wasn�t there. Her eyes widened and she whiped her head back around to look at the entrance to the parkinglot, Joey was just pulling out into the road. �NO!� She screamed out after him as she began running towards the car. �JOEY!� She stoped at the entrance, when she relized that she was to late. She felt tears rise in her eyes. She hadn�t been there fast enought, and because of that, he was going to get hurt. Or worse. Lance, Justin, Jc and Chris were rigth beside her when she turned around, the scared and helpless look on her face scaring them. �Cass?� Lance questioned as he took a step forward. She looked up at him, a tear flowing over her eyelid and down her cheek. She choked out the next four words as the ambulance that Lance had called minutes ago pulled in. �I was to late.� She lowered her face to the ground before an idea struck her and she pulled it back up. The ambulance had just parked and the EMT�s where jsut climbing out of the cab. Cassie jogged over to them, NS_NC not far behind. When she finally reached them she immediatly stoped them. �Get back in the ambulance, there�s been an accident.� She instructed as the EMT�s turned to face her. �but Miss, there�s someone else inside-� �I�m fine. Bad headache. Now get in the ambulance and go!� She was already climbing into the cab of the big vehicle, and the EMT�s followed. Cassie?� Chris asked, worried. �What happened?� �Follow in one of the cars,� She closed her eyes as and took a deep breathe before finishing her sentance. �And pray for Joey.� The men outside the ambulance scrammbled the a car as the ambulance pulled out, Cassie directing and mentally praying for her friend�s health. Withen minutes the ambulance stoped at the accident scene. In front of them was Justin�s car, the front end smashed in by the large tree in front of it. �This doesn�t look good.� Commented the EMT to Cassie�s right as he quickly jumped out and retreived his tools from the back. Cassie didn�t climb out of the car. Insteed she closed her eyes and leaned her head back, not wanting to see anymore. She heard the gasps of Lance, Justin, Chris and Jc as they came around the ambulance to view the car. She opened her eyes and looked to the ceiling of the vehicle, her eyes watery. A sob rose in her throat as one thought flew threw her head. It was her fault. She could have prevented it, but she hadn�t. It was her fault. |
