It's Not My Fault

Mommy said I was bad today.  That's why I'm sitting here in the corner.  But, it wasn't my fault.  Mommy had to stop at the bank on our walk today.  She said, "Sit in this chair and be a good girl while Mommy talks to the nice banker. You can do that, can't you sweetie?"  I told her I could.  And I
can.  It's not my fault the spiders were climbing downt he wall to get me.  And I didn't ask the alligators to bite at my toes.  Then there was the monster in Mommy's dress that chased me all about the bank.  I almost died!  And now Mommy's mad at me and I'm in the corner.  (heavy sigh)

Here's what happened.  I was sitting on the chair, just like Mommy said.  I was pracitcing my counting.
(count slowly on fingers, struggling at times) I counted all the way to eight, then I got bored.  (acts the story out) I looked up and I saw a million spiders.  They were big, and black, and crawly, and heading right for me!! I'm a brave girl, but I was so scared.  When they started crawling on me, I jumped up and brushed them off.  I'm scared of spiders, and they were trying to wrap me in their web.  I stomped on a few.

Then I saw the teeth...the
alligator teeth!  There were smiling at me, trying to eat me whole.  They scared me more than the spiders.  I looked around for my boat, but it was gone.  All that I could see was a piece of wood floating in the water.  I climbed up on it as quick as I could, but the biggest alligator got my toes.  I kicked him with my other foot till he let go.  (sigh of relief) I was pretty tier, but the alligators weren't going to give up.  Then, I saw my boat.  It was on the other side of the river.  I remembered seeing a guy run across alligator heads on T.V.  I knew I could do it too.

So, off I went.  I jumped from head to head as quick as I could.  One had it's mouth open, but I jumped right over it, to the next one.  I was almost at my boat when I was the monster in Mommy's dress.  It was about 50 feet tall, and had big, scary claws.  I turned around and ran.  I was two alliagtor heads away from my wood raft when the monster caught me.  I started to cry then, yelling at the monster, and begging it not to eat me.

(collapse onto stage) The the monster turned into Mommy.  She was really angry.  She grabbed me by the hand and dragged me out of the bank, telling me I was a very bad girl.  (get up and go back to chair) We came home, and here I am.

So, you see what I mean.  I
tried to be a good girl.  But, it's dangerous out there.  And I had to protect myself.  (heavy sigh, the a frightened look, jump off the chair, pointing to the audience) Look out!  He comes the boogy-man!!!  (run)
