ORIGIN OF BLUE LIGHTNING

 

 

Chapter 2

 

 

It was night in a plains. Odessa was left inside a small hut, still bound and gagged, and now she's tied to a chair. She looked outside the window, seeing those Imperial partying on a bonfire. All they care is about partying, and partying... how disgusting, she thought.

 

 

Suddenly, she recalled the moments when she was carried off to here. She overheard the guards muttering that she's the leader of Liberation Army, and her death will eventually lead to the destruction of the army.

 

 

'I must get out of here alive ! Otherwise... Achilles' last wish will never be fulfilled !'

 

 

Odessa then struggled her hands to free herself, but the binds were too tight. She sometimes groaned, in an effort to increase her power, even though only "Mmmph" came out. But, she never gave up, even though there's nothing that she can use to free herself.

 

 

"Mmmmppnngghh..."

 

 

Suddenly, fireworks were launched. Odessa took a notice to it, but she didn't have time to enjoy it. She HAS to get out. She struggled, groaned and moaned, without avail... until suddenly several guards came in.

 

 

"All right, woman. Commander Kraze told us to kill you now. So, any last words ?" one of the guards said as they surrounded Odessa. She was about to say, 'Go to hell', but what came out was only, "Mmmmpphh". One of the guards that surrounded her drew out his sword and put it in front of Odessa, pretending to slash her neck. Odessa started to sweat and tremble. In one moment, her life will end, and the fate of the Liberation Army will be sealed. Those feelings overcame her, and she was unable to do anything, not even to move or moan, as the sword drew closer and closer to her neck...

 

 

Until suddenly, a blue lightning bolt struck the guard that pointed his sword to Odessa, knocking him out. They looked behind... and saw Flik. "Tsk tsk tsk. I bet if she's untied, she'll be already kicking your sorry butts." He taunted them. "Who the hell are you !?" another guard asked. Flik went silent for awhile, until he said, "... Her 'Knight in Shining Armor'. Want to protest ?". "Whoever he is, KILL HIM !!" that guard yelled and charged at Flik.

 

 

"MMMMMPPHHH !!! MMMMMPPPPHH !!" Odessa screamed at him, thinking that Flik got too reckless and let himself be surrounded. However, that was not the case. Flik quickly chanted some spells and let out another blue lightning bolt running through and sweeping off some Imperial Guards. "That was Thunder Runner. Anyone else want some ?", Flik beckoned his enemies. The remaining guards got close to Flik and he drew his sword. The guards tried to attack him, but he could dodge and counter attack them accurately. In the end, all the guards were unconscious, while Flik stood there without wounds. Then, he proceeded to untie Odessa.

 

 

"Thank you..." Odessa thanked him, but Flik cut in, "We better move on. Reinforcements may come in soon enough." Then, they got out and ran off. Fortunately, they found a small cave, and they hid there, undetected by the guards.

 

 

"You're brave. Coming alone like that." Odessa commented. "Well, it's always a honor to save a heroine like you." Flik replied.

 

 

"Heroine ? Wait, I'm not that famous."

 

 

"But you ARE famous. Everyone speaks of your deeds, and they know you well, Lady Odessa."

 

 

"Oh, please ! I feel uneasy to be called 'Lady' ! You can just call me Odessa... Anyway, what's your name ?"

 

 

"Flik..."

 

 

They chat more, and Odessa began to feel Flik's quality as a warrior, as well as a potential to be a loyal leader, subordinate, and friend. In case of Flik, however, is a bit different. He was struck with Odessa's bravery, as well as her beauty. It seemed as if he has fallen in love with her at the first sight.

 

 

"Um... Flik, can I ask you a favor ?" Odessa asked. "Of course."

 

 

"Would you like to join the Liberation Army ?"

 

 

The moment Odessa said that, Flik's heart was about to explode in happiness. This is his chance to fight alongside with his new beloved !

 

 

"I gladly accept. I'm sick with those Imperial scums too."

 

 

"I'm glad... Anyway, I'm thinking of a code name for you...." Odessa commented.

 

 

"What nickname ? Scholtotheim Reinbach III ?" Flik asked curiously.

 

 

"No. You saved me using blue coloured thunder... That's it ! You can call yourself 'Blue Lightning' as your code name now !"

 

 

"Blue Lightning, eh... Sounds nice. But... don't you want one code name ?"

 

 

"I don't need one."

 

 

"I see."

 

 

"Welcome to the Liberation Army, Flik."

 

 

And henceforth, Flik followed Odessa as a member of the Liberation Army. His prowess later promoted him to be the first Lieutenant. And as time passes, Flik loved Odessa even more and it seemed that Odessa started to open up with him. They became lovers, and since Flik came from the Warriors' Village, and in its tradition he has to name his sword, he decided to name his currently unnamed sword as 'Odessa'. He had thought that this will last forever, and they will defeat the Empire together. But, little do they know that a terrible fate will eventually separate them forever...
