Bonsai: a reflection of nature, captured in miniature, as seen through the eyes and soul of the practitioner

As I stated on my opening page, I still am learning about bonsai. I would like to share with you the things I have learned up to this point. A potted plant should meet certain criteria to be considered a bonsai. They should have a good root system anchoring the tree in the soil, the trunk should have movement, taper and fall within a particular classification, the branches should meet certain requirements and the foliage should be balanced and symetrical. Some of these areas I have finally gotten the hang of, some I am still trying to grasp the concepts behind them. I will try to give as much information regarding each area as I can. As I learn more this articles will be updated and improved. I know if it weren't for other peoples webpages who offered advice I would still be way behind the eight ball on the learning curve. So hopefully something here will be of use to somebody. That is my only desire in offering this page. Each page will open in a new window.
