Shear Strength

The shear strength of the beam web is governed either yielding or bucking depending on the h/t ratio and the mechnical properties of the steel

For beam webs having small h/t ratio, the nominal shear strength is governed by shear yielding.

For beam webs having moderate h/t ratio, the nominal shear strength is based on inelastic shear buckling.

For beam webs having large h/t ratio, the nominal shear strength is governed by elastic shear buckling

For webs consiting of two or more sheets, each sheet shall be considered as a seperate element carrying its share of the shear force.
