(Note, we don't want you to explain the theme to us. Tell us -how- much you know, and not -what- you know.) I have had a character here for about 2 and a half years, and fully know the theme, rules and soforth. 3) TF2k5 has a system of consensual and cooperative RP (read RULES RP for more information). Why do you think this system is important? The advantages of a consentual-RP system are many, but there is one that stands out to me more than any other. People spend hours, days, even weeks comming up with their characters. They spend countless hours role-playing their characters to establish them on their chosen site, wether that be a MUSH, table-top or live action. They talk about them to their friends, write stories where their characters are the main focus of the story, and draw pictures of them to immortialize them. So, when some dipshit that spent 20 minutes thinking up a character, and has been playing them for all of 5 minutes comes along with a grudge, it kinda sucks for the first person when dipshit decides that their chararacter deserves to live more, and doing their best to kill off the first character. What does the first person do? Doesn't their character have just as much right to exist as dipshit's? Why did something that has brought them so many hours of joy have to die because someone was smokeing crack and felt that their character was better? That is the great part of consentual-RP. If dipshit comes around, then that's okay, because your character will still exist, and they will more than likely piss off the wrong person, and get pfired or sitelocked. 4) What is the personality of this character? - Give us at least five adjectives that describe this character's /personality/, and why? Give examples of attitudes and actions that typify these adjectives. The more detailed, the better. - To help 'flesh-out' your character, answer some or all of the following questions: - What is this character's outlook on life? What does this character think life *should* be like? What does this character believe in? - What are this character's fears, flaws, and quirks? Explain what keeps this character from being perfect. - Add anything else that will help us see how all of this fits together to create your character's unique personality. How do the adjectives relate to one another? Feel free to add anything else not listed in the questions above. In fact, we encourage it. Slow - Sped is not the brightest or fastest Decepticon to have fallen off the turnip truck. In fact, it would be safe to say that Sped is in fact one of the dumbest Decepticons in the Empire. His alt-mode, that of a Special Education/Learning Disability bus (shortbus), can probably hit speeds in upwards of 45 miles an hour, given faulty brakes and a big hill, but otherwise, he sticks to the school zone speed limit of about 25. Mentally, he's not much quicker. He's running at about 600 baud per minute. The boy is permanently lagging, in ways even Unicron couldn't engineer. Sped's approach to life is simple:. Daft - Sped takes after his passengers; it's gonna take him half an hour to get going, but when he gets moving, he's still traveling at about 15 mph. Wow! Evil - Have you ever spit soda at a special education kid? Well, I have, and let me tell you, they fight like a cornered dog when they get...cornered. And Sped has a mean streak the size of a speed hump. Not like the ones at the mall, we're talking the ones in the middle of nowhere to stop cows from walking too fast. He is a Decepticon to the core, and knows how to smack somebody with a rubber band. Childlike - I'm not talking 'sees the world throught the eyes of a child', I'm talking 'Dead End won't stay on his side of Motormaster!'. He's the kid that sits in the very back of Astrotrain and screams at the top of his volume controls, 'ARE WE THERE YET MR. FLYING-TRAIN-GUY?!' He thinks that the world is his playground, and uses it as such. He has been known to climb Liberation Arch as if it were a jungle jim, slide down the outer walls of Iacon like a big slide, and jump into the water only to belatedly remember that he can't swim, then wonder why he is sinking. Brutish - Sped is the kind of mech that, since his job is interrogating others, he uses a 2 x 4 to get his answers. He's been known to force feed prisioners paste until they couldn't hold anymore, and started admitting to being the third gunman no the grassy knoll. And, as we all know, TFs weren't active in Dallas in 1964. 5) How will you RP this character? - In what kind of RP situations can you see this character? - What about your chosen faction's philosophies and goals attract this character? - How does your character feel about each of the other factions? - Are there any particular notions toward the commanders of your character's faction that should be given attention? - What do you see this character doing in day-to-day RP? - What directions do you see this character going in the future? Well, the concept for this character hit me tonight while watching the Simpsons, that funny cartoon about a family living in a town called Springfield. In tonight's episode, they had a character that really hit home with me. His name is Ralph Wiggum. Ralph is a special kind of child. The kind that would (and has) glue his head to his own shoulder. Ralph is the son of Chief of Police Clancy Wiggum, the head cop of Springfield. In tonight's episode, Ralph revealed to us that he doesn't have many real friends, so he makes up a few of his own. This ones name is Wiggle-Puppy. He's a dog that flies and wiggles, thusly his name. :) Ralph's wit is almost Shakespearean in nature. Ralph also has a happy little Leprechaun friend that tells him to light fires. This is like the 'devil on his shoulder'. I'd like to have one, but that would come through RP if it ever did occur. I see Sped in a variety of different RP situations. Most of them revolve around being cannoned, and the resulting repairs that take place. You see, Sped was created with a few missing parts, the most notable being the check program that regulates what goes from his neural processor to his vocalizer, and what just remains a thought. So, Sped would have no compunction about going up to Galvatron and asking where he got his creamscicle, and if he could have a lick of his. And, on the same note, Sped if very good about sharing his tasty treats with others that have been nice to him. He's even been known to give up his last energon goodie to a friend who helped his mental growth, usually Wiggle-Puppy. Sped does not like the Autobots, mainly because most of them are in the forms of the cars that zoom past him when he is trying to deliver his special cargo. And, since he pulls a few shifts on the school board's transportation division, his cargo is special indeed. Another reason he dislikes the Autobots is that the one time he could have helped them in the transport of some special cargo of their own, Daniel wanted to ride in Arcee because he was scared of the big yellow thing. What the hell! There are *much* bigger busses than Sped! Why did Daniel single him out?! He was just trying to do his job. So, that's also why Sped hates most humans. As for the Junkions, Sped believes deep in his power core that thoes are some people in need of a short bus if ever there were some. I see Sped going slowly in the direction of his route. Unfortunately, he isn't a very inventive type, so he is going to drive in circles in the school parking lot for now. But, one day, Sped hopes to tackel his fear of those pesky speed bumps, and use one to send himself into orbit of whatever planet he is on, and look down upon all the Special Education kids, with pride in his laser core, and let them know that they too should follow their dreams. OOCly, I'd like to open the door to other TransFans who want to play a mentally retarded mech. That way, as in real life, we can hold a Special Olympics after the Real Olympics, but ours won't be rigged like those in real life, and the only winners of this new breed of special olympics are the ones that can figure out how to pull the trigger faster than the other morons. Giving generic or short responses to these two questions is the surest way to have an application sent back for revision. 6) Please answer the following questions: - What do you perceive to be this character's greatest strength and why? - What do you perceive to be this character's greatest weakness and why? - What are your character's personal goals? - Name one thing that your character would NEVER do, and why. Make this answer one as specific to your character as possible -- not something that half the other characters on the MUSH wouldn't do either. I see Sped's greatest strength as being the ability to wield a 2 x 4 like a mother fucka! This mech has the back swing of a pro golfer, and when it comes around at full force, he'll damn sure knock their head off, or nail them in the nads so hard that they'll be screaming for weeks. On the flip side, his greatest weakness is his fear of speed bumps. No matter how slowly he creeps up on them, or how fast he tries to take them, they somehow seem to always win, throwing him backwards in the direction he came, and sometimes, using such force that he has ended up on his back. Many a week has he spent on his back, screaming his fool head off, wheels spinning, door opening and closing to no avail, 7 childred trapped inside with nothing but paste and their own drool to sustain them through the lond weeks, like a box turtle trapped in the sun. I guess that'll teach him to practice against them during summer vacation. Sped's only goal in life is to defeat those vile speed bumps that clutter the parking lot that serve no purpose other than to piss him off. He once got the bright idea to transform and just step over it, and being slow, he followed that impulse. The consequences of his actions were three fold. First, upon transforming, the 'payload' within were instantly squished, leaving a healthy splattering of blood, drool and broken glue sticks for the medics to clean out for weeks. Second, he again ended up on his back, in the sun, with the afore mentioned gore baking to his insides, for a period of four months of a summer vacation, and a few weeks into the school year. And, thirdly, the repeated and horrorific flashbacks he suffers from this incident scar him to this very day. Sped would never willingly give a Witwickey a ride. See above about why he hates Autobots. 7) How could you use this character to initiate RP with others? (We don't mean walking up and saying 'hi'.) Well, there's always repair RP. But, aside from that, I can see Sped rolling up along side Ultra Magnus, or Rodimus Prime for that matter, opening his door, and saying, 'Heya big boy. Need a lift?' 8) Please include a sample pose or short example of role-play as this character as you would play him/her IC. Sped walks into the command center, safety scissors in hand, attempting to cut his own arm off. He looks up, upon his failure to do so, and checks to see who noticed. Looking both ways before crossing the command center, he heads over to the throne where Galvatron is seated, with Cyclonus standing to his left. "Hi Mr. Bunnyears." He places his flatened out hands on top of his head, making the point to the sky, "Can I be a commander too?" Suddenly distracted by the great big orange cannon on the arm of Galvatron, Sped drops his hands and looks to the Empror, "Can I have a taste of your frozen treat, sir?" ========= OC ONLY AFTER THIS POINT =============== 9) What is your character's origin and history? - Before doing this, read NEWS ORIGIN if you haven't already. - Do NOT answer with 'no one knows', or anything similar. Your background may be ICly secret, but you must have an approved one. - When in doubt, keep it simple. - If you want to use a current OC/FC in your background, we (someone in Charstaff) need a @mail from that person. Using a dead FC in your background required Charstaff head approval, and isn't given very often. Sped was made by Vector Sigma in a fit of drunken rage. Sped was a good mech, and did his job well. One day, during an interrogation, Sped forgot to place the 'guest' in his restraints, and when Sped hit him with his trademark 2x4, the mark attacked, dropping Sped to the ground, and several IQ points, and ran to safety. Sped has never been the same. 10) What is your explanation for the choice of your character's name? See NEWS NAMES for the MUSH guidelines on character naming. Well, I took the name Sped from the abreviation that was used for Special Education in my high school. Sp. Ed. I spliced them together, took out the punctuation and extra capitalization, and VIOLA! Sped is born. 11) If you are requesting an 8 or 10 point ability or a stat outside the ranges 4-7, please submit OOC and IC justification. Special ability requests will be forward to all staff heads. Saying that the character "can't do his/her job" without an ability usually means it won't be approved. Be creative. None! 12) What is your character's function, quote, and note? Note: Sped is a shortbus, and like his altmode, he is short and very bus-like. Slow, dim-witted, and all around dumb, Sped is the happiest Decepticon to ever grace the Empire with his presence. A master interrogator, Sped's methods include a 2x4, a 4x4, and 8x10. Also known to eat paste, see what parts of his anatomy he can chop off using only a pair of safety scissors, Sped is not to be trifeled with. Pointed at, laughed at, and made fun of, yes.
