Their story began on a dirt road.

In the light of the rising sun, the lovers clashed blades.

On the third pass, Shobei's sword found its mark, and Kashira fell.

Through blood-speckled lips, she whispered words of her undying love for him.

Shobei readied his sword to end her pain, and then spoke to her.

"Our love," he exclaimed, "is greater than mere flesh and matter! No matter where you are reborn, I will find you! Wait for me! If I must travel ten thousand miles, I will find you again!"

Shobei's blade descended, and Kashira was set free. Shobei then staggered, and finally succumbed to the poison dart Kashira had thrown into his breast.

Together the lovers laid in the tall rice fields that swayed slightly in the breeze.

They had finally found their peace.
