The answer is: both.
The Hell Lords craft demon broodlings out of darkness at their whim, this is true.
But occasionally demons are crafted that are similar enough to animals to actually breed.
The abominable offspring created by such foul unions are abandoned at birth, and most often they are consumed shortly thereafter.
Rare is the birthed demon to survive to maturity.
This is the tale of one such demon.
