Star Fox 64 - Super Smash Bros. (1-player)

WHAT A WAY TO WRAP UP 2003
I've made some really nice new scores in both Star Fox 64 and Super Smash Bros., so I award the final POD of 2003 to myself. First, my new Super Smash Bros. score. In just one day of playing, I rocketed from last place to 3rd place with Jigglypuff, improving my old score by more than half a million!

In Star Fox 64, I improved Meteo and Area 6, but also on this run, I made a brand new Total Hits record of over 2,300, which breaks my brief tie with Andrew Chan and slingshots me past Patrick Wessels!

Be ready for tomorrow's update, because whether there's new scores or not, I will be assigning the very first Player of the Year award ever given on N64HS! Be there for the big event! :-D There will also be a Player of the Month and Player of the Quarter award given out as well!

SUPER SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH BROTHERS!!!!!!
With help from Andrew Kent, we've expanded the Super Smash Bros. top 10 charts to top 20 charts. He dug up some old scores from years back and added neighbour Adam Rose's scores and his new scores (there's a Nai WR or two among those), while I added my own crap scores (I'll try playing games on Easy instead of Normal and see how that helps). I've played too much Melee and not enough of the old SSB :-(

A REAL PARTY ANIMAL
Thiago continues to improve his Mario Party 2 mini-game records, taking another Nai WR in Drivers Ed. The rest of his times aren't looking too shabby, with substantial improvements in the Slot Car Derbies.

STAR FOX
I have a nasty little habit of tying people's scores in Star Fox 64. :-) I played a bit last night and tied Daniel Dahl's score on Corneria. I strongly advise you to read the walkthrough Steven Zwartjes wrote (it's in that menu to your left) because this tells you where all the hidden enemies are, and where you can fire charged shots to make more points. And apply those strategies to Expert mode. I would make over 300 here if I didn't keep screwing things up!

Extreme G - Mario Party 2 (NTSC) - Super Smash Bros. (All) - Yoshi's Story

Players List

THIAGO FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH
Thiago Milles Carvalho Dias has become a serious Mario Party 2 player. He improved all his Drivers Ed times to top three, even taking a Nai WR in one of them. He also improved some of his other records so he can run with the big boys.

THEY'RE A BIG "SMASH"
Luiz Roberto, Jr. improved lots of scores and times in Super Smash Bros. He took two Nai WRs in 1-player, and made some little improvements in Targets and Platforms.

MISCELLANY
First and foremost, I've taken a very important Nai WR in Yoshi's Story over the holidays, so you might want to check that out. This one score will cost Derek SIX points when the Rankings get updated again, and put me only one Nai WR away from being champion once more.

Alex Pitera sent some scores for Extreme G 2. Nothing spectacular, but he did take a third place.

MERRY CHRISTMAS IN ADVANCE
I'd just like to say Merry Christmas to everybody right now, because I will not be doing an update tomorrow. I will be way too busy spending time with family, unwrapping presents, and.... uh... chowing down on Christmas dinner.

JUST ONE GUY PLAYING, AND A CORRECTION
Bruno de Vasconcelos Teixera improved many of his Nai WR times in Quake II. How low can he go? On a side note, Keven Thibault (that's the correct spelling, it's not Kevin), informed me not only of the spelling of his name but also that Mathieu Gagnon's Time Spent in Perfect Dark was in Hours:Minutes:Seconds format, but I listed it in Days:Hours:Minutes format. If the second and third numbers are separated by a period (.) instead of a colon (:), then it's in H:M.S format and not D:H:M. Try to remember that when you're sending me a time for Perfect Dark.

Players List - Star Fox 64 Rankings

MICHAEL MCKENZIE GOES APE
Michael McKenzie from Australia has sent his 101% completion time for Donkey Kong 64 via Andrew Kent. It's third place, just barely ahead of Abel Martos Lpez. I was told that Victor missed one of the coin races when he added them, he said something about a seal race. I'll have to talk to Vic about that.

RANKINGS UPDATED, BIRTHDAY
Andrew Kent has updated the Star Fox 64 Rankings to reflect the old 511-points rule. Unfortunately he overlooked the fact that Andrew Chan was a PAL player(even though he's from Canada) and didn't give him 10 points for his Area 6 score. Besides, I'll be a nice guy and count an NTSC score of 511 like a PAL score of 511+. He also needs to include the latest improvement from me: Titania, 2nd place tied. For now we have the Rankings mostly up-to-date. Andrew also told me today's the birthday of his sister, gaming goddess Michelle Kent. She turns sweet sixteen!

VICTOR THE DINOSAUR SLAYER
Victor Lima has sent his times for Turok 2. Most of them are Nai WRs... way ahead of those 10-plus hour times that were once the Nai WRs. Now all the Turok WRs are actually good times.

IN THE DARK
We have a new player hailing from the Great White North. Mathieu Gagnon, who is Keven Thibault's cousin, sends his stats for Perfect Dark. I was informed that the spelling for Thibault's first name is Keven and not Kevin, and I will have to fix that.

READY... AIM...
...take the first Nai WR in Star Fox 64! I made Star Fox history by becoming the first person to score more than 300 points on the planet MacBeth. I now have a one-point lead over Dimitrij Jarowoj. Additionally, I improved by two points on Fortuna, costing everybody I was tied with two of their precious Rankings points! There's no way I wouldn't have at least 60 points next time Rankings are updated, and be past Dimitrij.

SUPER MARIO 64
Victor and I have both worked on good speed-runs through the game. I did my run yesterday afternoon and Victor did his this morning. Check out our times... I beat Vic by TEN SECONDS!!! This means I get 5th place, Vic gets 6th, and poor Michelle drops two spots!

SMASH BASH
Luiz Roberto, Jr. leads the latest attack on the Super Smash Bros. pages by the Brazilians. He took a Nai WR in one-player mode, and his pal Vinicus Ferreira da Silva got a 2nd place time in Break the Targets. And there's also a new player, Felipe Batistel.

HE'S GOT THE SHAKES

Super Mario 64 Rankings

SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE... SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE...
(Yep, that was supposed to be sung to the tune of the KC & Sunshine Band song.)

Alright, we have a full-scale battle between two Southern Hemisphere dwellers in Quake II. Brazilian player Bruno de Vasconelos Teixera got back four Nai WRs, but in a twist, Australian player Phil Renshaw took back another two of Bruno's. This kind of reminds me of a few years ago when Derek Kisman and I were warring over Nai WRs in Yoshi's Story...

THOSE AWESOME AUSSIES
Phil Renshaw isn't our only Australian player active today. Adam Rose, who is the neighbor (err... neighbour) of Andrew Kent, made a perfect score in the Horseback Archery game in Ocarina of Time. And Michelle Kent, the sister of Andrew Kent and probably the best female Nintendo player to have ever lived (we'd like to see her try some other games!), snagged another Heart Container in its sequel, Majora's Mask.

GOT A LOCK ON DIMITRIJ
I improved a score in Star Fox 64 that is probably going to take me past Dimitrij Jarowoj next time the Rankings is updated. I've made a six-way tie for third place on Fortuna with a score of 85. I know I could've scored higher than that, so there will most likely be more where that came from.

DEREK KISMAN PARTS WITH ANOTHER YOSHI WR
I've succeeded in capturing another of Derek Kisman's Nai WRs in Yoshi's Story. In 4-1 Jungle Hut I achieved a score of 6,167, even after making a mistake that cost me 42 points! I know I can get 6,200 here, in fact, I think I'll try that right after I finish this update!

Players List

POSH POWER
Today's been a really big day, with 56 new scores in addition to the capture of Saddam Hussein. Alex Pitera led his native Britain to victory today with his Extreme G 2 times, which include a Nai WR! And he says there are more times to come... does that mean more Nai WRs too?

NEW PLAYER
Like most new players nowadays, this one comes from Brazil. Thiago Milles Carvalho Dias sent some records for Mario Party 2 and Star Wars Episode 1- Racer. Unfortuately, he made no Nai WRs, and with Alex's Extreme G 2 achievements today, this means he failed to make the POD. Sorry Thiago.

CAN WE TRUST CHRIS?
Banjo-Kazooie champion Phil Hughes believes that Chris Dawson's Nai WR for Mumbo's Mountain is not possible. I e-mailed Chris about it a while ago but his e-mail address seems to no longer work. For the time being, I have taken down his time and put my own in its place. If anybody here can get in touch with Chris, please do so! He will have to prove his time before I restore it!

IT'S-A MARIO TIME
Victor Lima and I are both working on our Super Mario 64 times. Victor, who won the POW for his work in Mario Tennis, improved his regular match with Koopa and Slide times, and I'm working to complete the game as fast as possible. I made many mistakes on this run, and I will try to learn from them for my next run, where I will hopefully beat Michelle Kent's time to be in the top 5.

"GROUND-BREAKING" NEWS

STAR FOX & WAVE RACE
I made a big change to these two pages. I have rearranged the tables into a more logical order more similar to the order in which you would play the levels in the actual game. They were in alphabetical order, which really didn't make a lot of sense. In Star Fox, I played my greatest game ever, breaking my records on two missions plus my Total Hits score, which gives me two points for the Rankings and pushes me past Greg Ihnatenko!

PIRANHA PLANTS BEWARE
Victor Lima is continuing to ace the Piranha Challenge with various characters. Will he be able to make a perfect score with every character in the game?

NEW QUAKE PLAYER
Phil Renshaw from Australia is shaking things up on the Quake II page, where he's already taken one of Bruno's Nai WRs. Can we expect him to send more times in the future and rock N64HS with a magnitude even greater than Bruno?

SORRY FOR THE LATE UPDATE TODAY
I've been having lots of problems with my AOL connection and I've also been quite busy, I have been getting disconnects every time I tried to edit the N64HS pages, but I found away around it. So now I can work on N64HS again. Anyway...

BRAZILIAN INVASION!!!
We have FIVE new Brazilian players today. They are Henrique Correa Lima, Lucas Correa Lima, Michel Correa Lima, Aguinaldo Baldin Neto, and finally Luiz Roberto, Jr. They have many new great scores and times in Blast Corps, San Francisco Rush, and Super Smash Bros., even a few Nai WRs.

STAR FOX & YOSHI'S STORY
I have made one improvement in each of those games. I'm convinced that I could get better Star Fox scores on the PAL version, because of the slower speed. But I probably can't easily get a PAL version game in the area where I live. If I could, I might give it a try. But it's highly unlikely. For the time being I consider myself very proud of what I've done on the NTSC version, which most likely puts American players at a disadvantage with its faster speed.

Felipe Larocca has sent times for all the Battle for Naboo missions. He says you can use three ships on a single mission, so I listed all the ships he used. This makes the tables look a bit funny, so I might want to remove this column in the future.

VICTOR IS "EMERTXE"
Victor Lima is good with the backwards tracks. We're not talking about that radio show game where you identify reversed song clips to win a prize, but Victor did win a POD yesterday for his times on Extreme G 2's reversed tracks. Now he has four more, but they're not enough to win him a POD against Felipe's Star Wars efforts.

PAT, WATCH YOUR BACK
I'm continuing to work on my Star Fox 64 times. If Andrew Kent would update the Rankings, I would now be about one point behind Patrick Wessels or maybe even tied with him. Today's new scores are too low for the top five (and points for the Rankings) but I am pleased with them.
