Mario Tennis (Piranha Challenge) - Star Fox 64

Mario Party Advance
Proofs

A TALE OF TWO ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Two players have each done something that would be considered very noteworthy today at N64HS, but of course there can only be one POD winner. Let's take a good look at each of them.

Exhibit A: Steven Hoying, who debuted on the Mario Tennis Piranha Challenge charts with perfect scores for all sixteen characters. This feat has already been done once before, by Victor Lima.

Exhibit B: Winfried Merdes, with an amazing new Star Fox 64 Nai WR that continues to push the boundaries of what is possible and what is not. His new score beats Dimitrij's by a whole 15 points, and he has proof of not only this but also his Titania score from yesterday, as promised.

Both Steven and Winfried did a great job, but I am awarding the final POD of June 2005 (and the POW!) to Winfried. His feat is both unprecedented and has impressed me greatly, plus he has already proven it! Let's not forget that the POM and POQ go out tomorrow, so Winfried has a good shot at winning the POM as well!

MORE PORTABLE PARTYING FOR ME & JULIAN
Both Julian Revermann and I have lots of new records for Mario Party Advance, and a few WRs changed hands. I took some of his and he took some of mine. Two of my records-- Go-Go Pogo and Bill Bounce-- are now WRs at Game FAQs, while Julian improved one of his own Game FAQs WRs.

ANOTHER SECOND PLACE FOR WINFRIED!!
Winfried Merdes has beaten another of my scores and taken the 2nd place spot. This time it's Titania, where he becomes the second player to make 300 points. He says Dimitrij Jarowoj helped him with the score and that he'll have proof of it very soon.

A NEW ALEX IN THE STADIUM
The Pokmon Stadium already had an Alex Pitera. Now it has a new Alex, Alex Haines, and he has two new records (he either hasn't done Magikarp's Splash or hasn't gotten a good enough score for the top ten)

EVEN A CHRISTIAN CAN STILL PARTY HARDY
Besides me, there's at least one other Christian on the Mario Party 6 charts. Christian Revermann, that is. Some of his records are pretty good, such as Spooky Spike. His older brother got two new records, including a (distant) second place time for Go-Go Pogo.

MORE ACTION OFF THE N64 THAN ON
It was a relatively busy day today, but most of the scores weren't for the N64, they were for Mario Party Advance. Alex Haines was the only one playing N64 and thus the POD winner, with two new Mario Tennis records plus a new Star Fox 64 score. And Andrew Kent improved one of his new 2nd place Super Mario Bros. DX scores. Now back to Mario Party Advance. Not only does Alex have new records here, but so do I (with a great Go-Go Pogo time that's less than one second from the Game FAQs WR, plus a few other new WRs) as well as Julian Revermann (who took three of my WRs).

ANDREW & LUIZ ARE BACK!
Two players that have becomes legends at N64HS are active today! Andrew Kent made huge improvements in Super Mario Bros. DX. This was his biggest day of improvements ever! He even tied one of my WRs! He tied three Nai WRs in Pokmon Snap too, and his Total Report Score is closing in on the top ten! Then there's Luiz Roberto, Jr., with a Nai WR in Blast Corps and a few other times that are all in the top three. I was more impressed by Luiz's Blast Corps Nai WR (which is 30 seconds better than the old WR) so he got the POD!

PARTY: A LANGUAGE EVERYBODY UNDERSTANDS
Two Mario Party games were played today, by people from around the world! Two Brazilian players, Vinicius Ferreira da Silva and Felipe Batistel, have new Mario Party 3 times. Julian Revermann, Christian Revermann, and Tobias Braner, the Germans, have bunches of new Mario Party Advance records (and a couple of new WRs) while here in the United States of America I have two new improved WRs.

ACCORDING TO HOYING
Remember when the players with 85 points on Fortuna were all tied for second place? I do. But now those days are long gone. With Steven Hoying's new Fortuna score, he has graduated from the 85-Point Club, bringing them down another place, to 7th!

MORE MARIO PARTY ADVANCE RECORDS
I got four new mini-games yesterday and now I have great records for all of them... and they're not even the best I could do. All of these records are scores and are more than twice the old WR, some up to four times higher! After taking a break of about two days, Steven Hoying has returned with his best Star Wars Episode 1 Racer times yet, including his first Nai WR. His work both today and last week have been more than enough to win him both a POD and a POW today.

DIMITRIJ HAS PROOFS FOR HIS TWO BEST SECOND PLACE SCORES AND HIS SOLAR WR
Though Dimitrij Jarowoj doesn't have the Nai WRs for Total Hits and for Area 6, you can't say they're not some of the best scores on the Star Fox 64 page. Dimitrij now has proof for both of these scores. He also has a picture of his Solar WR.

MORE PARTYING ON THE GO

I just got Mario Party Advance yesterday, but I already have several WRs! One of them is four times better than the old WR. But not all of my times and scores are that great. That's okay, though, because I have plenty of room to improve all my records (except Broom Zoom, which I believe to be near-perfect). Julian Revermann has some new records, too.

ANOTHER GREAT NEW STAR FOX SCORE FROM DIMITRIJ
Dimitrij Jarowoj didn't get a Nai WR, but he still has a very good new score for Corneria. With Corneria being the first and easiest level in the game, everybody does their very best so one shouldn't "Phil" too ashamed if they can't make the WR. Anything over 300 is exceptional.

PARTY HARDY
I spent the better part of yesterday evening working on getting better records for Mario Party 4. Most of the new records are minor improvements but I had a lot of success in Mario Medley, where I'm 2nd-- in second place, and only the second American in the top ten! The other is Kenneth Cheung Kam Yiu, who simply prefers to be called Kenneth Cheung. Both players have Total Hits scores over 2000. Additionally Ken sent all his mission scores, including a 5th place on Fortuna and Nai WR Tie on Area 6.

ALEX SKATEBOARDS AND SUBMITS PROOF; MEMORY SPACE IS RUNNING OUT
Alex Pitera has a few new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater scores, nothing spectacular. But he also has proof of his Mario Party 2 records and his Coinless Stars record for Super Mario 64. (We can't prove that he avoided coins outside of the 15 main courses so we'll have to take his word on that) Now, I have only 3.1 MB of space remaining in my Geocities account, which means that I won't be able to receive much more proof. I will not buy additional memory space. Everyone will have to watch out for the size of the proof files they send; I will need to impose a limit on file size. From this point on, I only want images that are under 200 KB in size. Even at this limit I will only be able to host 15 more proofs if they are all near this limit, so I would prefer you send me an image under 100 KB. Even then, I won't be able to accept proofs from you for much longer, so you will have to start hosting them on your own Geocities or Angelfire accounts. I don't care how small or how blurry your picture is as long as we can read your scores!

BRUNO HAS NEW TIMES AND AN INTERESTING POINT
Bruno de Vasconcelos Teixeira has the only new scores on the N64 and thus the POD. He decided to combine everyone's Targets and Platforms totals, and discovered that he has the second highest combined total and only one of two players with a combined total under seven minutes!

LUIZ'S MISTAKE
Luiz Roberto, Jr.'s Ness time in Break the Targets really isn't as spectacular as it's been cracked up to be. Because Luiz hit a wrong key when he submitted his time, sending a 17"63 when he meant 18"63. So it's only fourth place. Please, always doublecheck your times before you hit Send!

MORE RECORDS FOR TOBIAS & THE REVERMANNS
Julian Revermann and his younger (but no less famous) brother Christian Revermann have new Super Mario Bros. DX scores. The elder Revermann made the top three in World 8-4. In Mario Party 6 Tobias Braner sent lots of times including the second highest Decathlon Total. And on NTSC I improved my Snow Whirled by one revolution. The only thing I have to show for it is a blister on my finger :-P

This applies to anyone else who simply "lets the pictures speak for themselves". I need to be able to see your times in the e-mail body, and download the pictures later when I have the time. If your proof image is too large in size (in the hundreds of KB and bigger than the screen) I will start using the Paint program to shrink the image to a small size before I post it in the Proofs gallery. He passes two people with his new total and he has a nice new Area 6 score. Geoff currently has the advantage over Chris in that his cart allows for scores higher than 511 on Area 6 while Chris's does not. The POM goes to Sean Kaczmarek, without a doubt, for mind-blowing Super Smash Bros. times that were set in a surprisingly short period of time.

ISAI MAKES A BIG DISCOVERY, NEW RULE ADDED AND ISAI'S NAME ADDED TO CREDITS
For a while, Isai Alvarado had been playing the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros. to set some of his Break the Targets and Board the Platforms times. And I accepted them. But Isai has pointed out that the Japanese version gives players a rather unfair advantage, with characters that can jump higher and break targets more quickly. So I have banned the use of the Japanese version. Perhaps to console Isai, I added him to the Credits page under Information about Super Smash Bros. I want him to send me only his American version times from now on. Most of his records are with the American version anyway, I assume. Isai gets the POD for an improved WR.

The Dutch player known as "Pascal Viets" who had taken 3rd place in Yoshi's Story and 1st in Pokmon Stadium has been hiding something very big from us the entire time he's been with us. Turns out, his real name is not Pascal Viets. His real name is Emile Broekhuizen.

A long time ago, Emile had joined the Elites web site with fake GoldenEye 007 times before he even got the game. Somebody discovered he was lying, and he was banned from the site. Emile then got the game, got some legitimate times, and wanted to be let back in to the Elites with his new times. He created the alias Pascal Viets so that noone would know that a banned member was trying to return. When he joined N64HS he continued to use the fake name, because this was what everyone at the Elites knew him as. And now, today, he is revealing his secret both to N64HS and to the Elites. He promises that he did not lie about any of the scores and times that he has sent to N64HS or the Elites since he began using the fake name. As a result, I have removed all references to the fake name from N64HS and replaced them with his real name. I have not deleted or altered any of his records otherwise. So now you know the story. If I missed any instances of Pascal Viets let me know and I will change it to Emile Broekhuizen right away. Note that Emile still continues to use the name "Pascal" in his E-mail and IM contacts. I wish Emile luck that the Elites is as forgiving as I am about the use of the fake name. Could there be other players at N64HS using fake names to protect their true identity?

REVERMANNS PARTYING
Julian and especially Christian Revermann have been Partying today. Christian has some improved records in each of the three GameCube Mario Parties. Julian got a WR in Mario Party 6.

MORE GREATNESS FROM MR. GUTIERREZ
Chris continues to keep up the good work in Star Fox 64, where he has raised his Total Hits by another seven points and made a picture to go with it. His Sector X score is very nice!

MYLES TIES UNASSISTED KOOPA RACE WR
Myles Bukrim became the third person to get a perfect time of 18.7 seconds for Footrace with Koopa the Quick without the help of the Wing Cap, cannons, or warps. That's why I'm taking to calling it the Unassisted race. Myles has a video of this achievement but I do not have the time to upload it today. It is over a megabyte in size.

KOEN SPINS IT JUST RIGHT FOR THE POD
The Dutch NTSC player Koen de Wilt has astonished me with his new Mecha Fly Guy time for Mario Party. It's the same as mine, believe it or not! To make 70 spins in 10 seconds is quite an achievement-- Koen is just the second person to do it! Koen also worked on Super Mario Bros. DX.

BIG IMPROVEMENTS BY CHRIS GUTIERREZ AND A NEW DISCOVERY
Chris worked very hard on Star Fox 64 last night, beating Jan-Erik Spngberg's Total Hits score, getting a Nai WR Tie on Area 6, and improving all his other scores. He points out that although he has the NTSC version of the game, his copy has same the 511-point limit that the PAL version has! For providing me with this info, Chris gets a place on the Credits page.

DIMITRIJ JAROWOJ ON FIRE
Still on Star Fox 64, Dimitrij Jarowoj really "shined" with his "stellar" new score for Solar. He has over 190 now! Can 200 be done?

ALEX BOTH AVOIDS AND COLLECTS COINS; 9-YEAR-OLD TIES SECOND IN SMBDX
In Super Mario 64, Alex Pitera improved his Coinless Star count and also sent his Total Coins (from a different game file). And Tom de Wilt made a nice score in Super Mario 64. He's only nine, the same age I was when I first played Nintendo! How much can he accomplish by the time he turns 20!?

"WOW! INCREDIBLE!!!"
Guess the game :-) The highlight of today: Sean Kaczmarek performs quite an amazing feat in Super Smash Bros. Break the Targets. He improved three times. Two are second place. His third could only be described as unbelievable... you'll see. His total is already in the top four. And this is only day three!

NEW STAR FOX 64 TOTAL FOR CHRIS
What N64HS needs is another player named Chris. Especially a Chris G. We already have Christopher Graves and a Christian Revermann. Now it's Chris Gutierrez. He improved his Total Hits score by 75 points and made a picture of it too!

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS
Julian Revermann, whose screen name is Drache156 (and he says Drache is the German word for Dragon), improved his Dungeon Duos WR from yesterday by a full two seconds. His little brother Christian that I mentioned before improved his Take a Breather time.

A DAY PACKED WITH ACCOMPLISHMENTS
I have to say that everybody did a great job today, but I am most impressed with Sean Kaczmarek. In only two days he has achieved a total of close to 2'30" in Break the Targets and has made a top three time today. Now read on...

MYLES MAKES A NAI WR IN MARIO GOLF
Myles Bukrim is back to golfing, and he already has a Nai WR for Speed Golf. He says he plans to try to take the Stroke Play Nai WR for Toad Highlands from Michael Plzl. Good luck Myles.

70 SPINS IN 10 SECONDS
I have become the first player (or maybe not) to make 70 spins in Mecha Fly Guy in Mario Party. My ultimate goal is a 10-second flight. Rumor has it that Dutch player Patrick Wessels once got 72 spins. On PAL, that would make a flight time of 12 seconds!!

JULIAN TAKES SEVERAL WRS IN MARIO PARTY 4
Too bad Mario Party 4 doesn't count towards the POD or Julian could have had a chance of winning it. Julian Revermann made three WRs, one tied. He even took Tobias Braner's Right Oar Left? WR!

ANOTHER RANKINGS UPDATE
Andrew Kent did the Pokmon Snap rankings today, where he cites the progress of fellow Australian player Alex Penev, whom he says is Australia's best gamer. He may be right because Alex has some amazing records in Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, and Zelda! Just to name a few! Another Alex, Alex Pitera, has a couple of improved Super Mario 64 records.

I have to say that April 19 is not my favorite date of the year. It's the tenth anniversary of the bombing of the Alfred-Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City (which killed 168 people) and also the first anniversary of the death of my uncle Bobby.

SEAN BREAKS TARGETS!
Sean Kaczmarek is back with his first Break the Targets times for Super Smash Bros.! All of them are very good, a few are even in the top five, so the POD is his!

NEW STAR FOX 64 PLAYER, AND MORE DIMITRIJ IMPROVEMENTS
From GameFAQs, Chris Gutierrez sends his first Star Fox 64 scores. Dimitirij Jarowoj has a couple of improved scores (no places gained).

THE PARTY AIN'T OVER YET
Julian Revermann improved his Right Oar Left? time in Mario Party 4 even more, so now he's just a hair away from getting the WR! I improved a Mario Party 2 time to be safe from being knocked out of another top ten.

Yikes! We're halfway through the month of April already! Each month seems to fly by faster than the last as my first day in college draws ever closer. Indeed some of the pages updated today may say April 15 instead of April 16. Yes, I'm always stuck in the past, but that's a different story.
...Anyway today, Michael McKenzie sent in a bunch of great Banjo-Kazooie times with a total time just over four hours, another reason why I felt that FULL SPEED AHEAD made a great headline for today. All his times are better than mine!

MARIO MANIA
Andrew Kent is back with a Rankings update, it's for Super Mario 64. The page has changed a bit since new glitches have been discovered (extra coins in Snowman's Land, and the 77th Coinless Star). NEW WR FOR DIMITRIJ
Dimitrij Jarowoj gets his second POD in a row (and Germany their third) for making a new Nai WR in Star Fox 64.

"MINER" IMPROVEMENT
I worked on some Handcar Havoc (Mario Party 2) and tied 9th place, getting back in the top ten. The only top ten I have left to re-enter is Sky Pilots where my current record is 50"60.

ALEX IS DOING THE MARIO
Alex Pitera got an impressive under-20-second time for the Princess' Secret Slide in Super Mario 64, without shortcuts. He got more Capless, Cannonless Stars, as always, and has started the Coinless Stars Challenge! 67 more to go!

100-WIN STREAK
First of all, a little update to the Players List. Erbach is not the name of Julian Revermann's town, it's his township. The town is called Gttersbach. Well anyway Julian and Toby (who is from Beerfelden, though he isn't on the Players List yet) have made some incredible win streaks for Endurance Alley. They also have great new Block Star scores while Julian beat his brother's Full Tilt time.

But I gave myself the POD because I was the only one playing the N64 today, getting the 77th Coinless Star in Super Mario 64

Tom de Wilt, at only 9 years old (!), is now the youngest player ever to tie a Nai WR (and the one that he did tie was impressive to say the least) so he easily earns the title of youngest player ever to get a POD. By the way, all of the Wilts are brothers, and quite young: Tom is 9, Bob is 11, Jerom is 13, and Koen is just 14!

YESTERDAY'S PARTYING CONTINUES INTO TODAY

Players such as Andrew Kent, Thomas Grandjean, or Christophe Ley should prepare to lose some Nai WRs! He'll be sending his records very soon, he says! What Kyle Sinclair was to NTSC, Koen will be to PAL!

BRANDON MAKES POD FOR BEATING MY SCORE
Brandon Eberly has two Super Smash Bros. scores today. He passes my score with the first and he was already ahead of me with the second. He doesn't gain any places in total points, which is no surprise considering the giant gap that separates him from the next player up.

APRIL FOOLS!
I felt compelled to play a mean trick on everybody today ;-) I'm not done with N64HS just yet... but I may not be able to do daily updates once I start college in just a few months. The past two updaters of N64HS quit their job while in college, but hopefully I'll be able to juggle both college and N64HS updating. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

MEET THE WINNERS
First up is the last POW of March, won by Curtis Bright. He became the first player to make 77 Coinless Stars in Super Mario 64, which is a big deal. Since the last part of March was very quiet, I went ahead and treated the last ten days as a single week.

The POM, the next award up, was taken by Luiz Roberto, Jr., who won two POWs in Match for work in San Francisco Rush, Pokmon Snap, and Super Smash Bros., where he took third place overall in Board the Platforms, which is also a big deal.

Finally there's the POQ, won by POY-hopeful Kyle Sinclair. He is one step closer to winning the ultimate award that he just missed winning last year.

THE PARTY IS STILL ON
Today only Julian Revermann is playing Mario Party 6. He got ahead of his younger brother Christian in one event and made many small improvements. Will we ever see Tobias Braner on this page?
