Get out of my pool
November 30, 10:05 PM Whats this, a PM entry? I know they are rare, but today was a pretty good day. I got nine hours of sleep last night and woke up just in time to go to physics lab. We were supossed to predict how long it would take a pendulum to swing back and forth once by measuring the length of the string it was using, and then actually swing it to see if we were right. My group was acurate to one hundreth of a second. We were very proud and got to leave an hour early. When I got back to the appartment I hung out in my room for a bit, then went to Martin's to shop for groceries and stuff. When I got back I ran my rent check up to the office and on my way back I ran into Reg. Afterwards I came back up to the room and realized how disgusting our kitchen was, so I mopped and cleaned it. I also cleaned out my fridge, and while I was in there I found some meat and cheese that had gone bad, and also part of my birthday cake from two months ago. I threw all of that away, and after I was done with the kitchen, I cleaned my bathroom. Feeling that I was on a roll I got my Chem crap out to study. After tiring of that I studied and worked on calculus which wasn't bad. Then I uninstalled some stuff from my computer and defragged it (Or "Defragmatized" it, as my dad would say). Now I'm off to study more chem and finish my physics homework. I regret that I have but ONE life to waste on video games! -Ethan Hello space boys and girls November 30, 2:01 AM I had what was quite possibly the most relaxing thanksgiving break ever. I spent all of wednesday with Mandie. Thursday was turkey day at my grandparents house...at 12:30 in the afternoon. By 2 everyone was done eating thanksgiving lunch, and later that night I had macaroni and tuna for dinner. Then I played a whole lot of Civilization 3, one of Sid Meier's greatest games. Its a good one gamers, by now it will run on most computers and its probably real cheap. Friday was stay at home and putz around day, so I did a lot of that while Mandie was at her relatives with the dog from hell. Saturday I attempted to do some of my physics homework and didn't get any of the right answers. So I went to bed. Sunday I helped my grandma haul some wood from a house across the street from me to her house. It was good though, we had a truck. Then I did more of my homework while watching The Terminal with my parents. Its a textbook Tom Hanks movie, so if you don't like Tom Hanks you won't like this movie. I tried to do my chemistry homework after that and couldn't figure it out, so I got frustrated and went to sleep. Monday was a comparatively easy day. The chapter we started in calculus doesn't seem so hard, I didn't have public speaking today, and chem lab was fairly easy, it was just a lecture today. As for physics...physics is like a leak in a ship's hull. As the days go by more and more water pours in and sinks my ship while I'm on the bridge taking care of math and chem. Then I go down and bail out as much water as I can to try to salvage a decent grade in there. And now, I think I've finally figured out what my problem was this semester. It was a combination of several problems. 1. Lack of interest in classes. 2. Lack of interest in major. 3. Lack of drive and motivation. 4. Lack of being able to understand the material on the first pass. 5. The fact that I get frustrated extremely easily. 6. The fact that two of my classes, neither of which I care for, are very difficult. 7. Lack of a plan or any direction for a large part of the semester. 8. The fact that my old study habits just aren't cutting it anymore. Now its not all doom and gloom for this semester. If everything goes as planned, I should have a C in calculus, probably a C in chem, a possible B in physics, and an A in public speaking. Next semester I'm lined up for two psychology classes, a philosophy class, a history class, a communications class, and an english class. Total: 18 credits. I'm shooting for a 4.0 GPA this time. I will do it. I love you. Until next time, fellow gamers. A collision at sea can ruin your entire day November 24, 12:27 AM Another hectic, but short week. Sunday night I got 4 hours of sleep. I still went to all my classes the next day, and did my final Lab for the semester. The only problem is that my professor said that everyone had to figure out how to do the calculations for it by themselves. "It won't take long if you know what you're doing!" he says. Great. You are supossed to TEACH us how to do this stuff. How are we supossed to figure it out? Anyway, I was dead by 10 PM that night and slept for a full 12 hours. Tuesday wasn't bad. I woke up, did some physics homework, and went to class to take the quiz. I think I did it right. Now I'm home till Monday morning for Thanksgiving break. I'll be giving a lot of thanks come Thursday. Wake up and smell the ashes November 20, 2:02 AM What a hectic week. Monday I had a lab report due by 6 PM that night. I got to school around 8:50 in the morning and worked on it as much as I possibly could between then and the due time. I got it done with minutes to spare. Then I had the actual lab class. Unbeknownst to me, I would be there until almost 11 PM that night with my partner due to unclean and overly sensitive equipment. Tuesday I bought Mandie her birthday present, a brand spanking new Volume 1 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I didn't make it to physics recitation because I was in Ebensburg at the time of the class. That day I also bought the best game I've played in months, Half Life 2. Unfortunately it required a bizzare registration process that delayed my playing a full 7 hours. I got it working eventually though. Wednesday I had class all day and studied for my Chem exam. Thursday I worked on yet another lab report that was due that day. Luckily this one wasn't nearly as hard to write up. Then I studied Chem some more and Calculus too. Friday I woke up and took my calc quiz. Wasn't bad. Then I had my regular classes, and at 5 PM I took my Chem exam. I finished early, and I'm not quite sure how to interpret that. I got home and got ready for Mandie's birthday dinner. I took her out and we enjoyed our meals, then we watched some comedy central standup, which is pretty pointless since they beep half of what the people say out. So now here I am at home, eating popcorn, and ready to sleep. See you next level. Bubble Lead November 14, 2004, 2:08 AM Whoa, no updates for a couple days. Here's whats up. I took my car to the garage Friday morning. Of course they couldn't fix the problem right then and there, so I have to bring the car back to them on Tuesday morning. Apparently something is wrong with the horn itself. I'm getting sick of this. We started a new section in calculus, it's the integration and dirivatives of infinite series. Sounds like it's gonna be a fun last couple of weeks. I also sent an E-mail to my chem professor asking that if we could redo our old lab reports now that we have our first one back that we should have had in October. I imagine his answer will be no. After my classes I went out to see Saw with my lovely girlfriend Mandie. We both enjoyed it and I recommend it to anyone, especailly little kids that scare easily. Saturday I woke up at 8:30 in the morning, ate breakfast, and fell back to sleep. I later awoke and did some chores, after which I picked Mandie up to watch some movies and eat pizza at home. Afterwards I busted out some homework to do when Andre called. We BSed for about an hour and a half, then it was back to the books. I can safely say that writing functions as infinite series is not my forte. So I tried to do my chem homework when I realized I needed Microsoft equation editor to do any of it, which I don't have here at home. So now I've got two lab reports to write, calculus to do, chem to study, physics problems to botch, and public speaking to study. Jesus Christ, I'm ready for this semester to be over. See you next mission. Parked, pooped, and pissed off November 11, 2004, 9:20 PM I took that calculus test today and it was a killer. I predict I got something in the 77% range. After the test I drove back to the auto garage so I could have the various noises taken care of and have my winter tires put on. It took them more than an hour and a half to do these things. I found out the noise coming from my vent was due to leaf buildup, which was cleaned out. Also I was told that 3 of my lugnuts swelled and had to be replaced. I also saw that I had the wrong set of tires for my car, so I had to go back home and get the right ones. I couldn't get a price on a new A/C Compressor because the woman that does pricing wasn't there. You'd think that three mechanics put together could come up with a price. They couldn't. So I wait till tomorrow morning, which isn't so bad because when I went to drive back to college I discovered that my horn was now not working. It was fine before today. Now I can go back tomorrow and ask them what the hell they did to my horn. Instead of driving back to school, then back to the garage, back to school again, and back home, I'm staying the night here at home. I think I'm going to start taking my car to someone else. This isn't the first time they've screwed up. I can't even study for anything because I don't have any of my books here. Just one of those days... See you next stage. Time to get serious November 11, 2004, 2:22 AM Well, the calculus studying is almost complete. It's really not that hard, theres just a lot of rules and tricks to remember. Once you know that, it's all plug and chug. Tonight, I sleep. Tomorrow, I am tested. Then...I play video games. Later. One test after another November 10, 2004, 5:14 PM The physics test today wasn't as bad as I had feared. I think I did pretty decently on it. Now I have a calculus exam tomorrow to worry about. I've been doing the homework and practicing and studying but that never really seems to be enough for that class. I can only do my best. I asked my calc professor what my grade looked like so far, and he told me that I had a low C. "Don't slide any further," he advised. Yeah, easy for you to say. I'm really going to give this next exam my all. I'm giving it the up-till-3:30-in-the-morning treatment like I did for the physics exam today. Whoever said cramming doesn't work is full of horseshit. It has always worked for me when I needed that extra edge. Theres going to be a review session tonight from 7 till 8:30, I will definately be there. There will be a chemistry exam next week on Friday as well. I have a B- in chem right now, hopefully this next exam will pull that sucker up. I've also been thinking about sprucing this blog up a little bit, but I'm not sure how yet. Until next time... Mousey Pointe November 10, 2004, 3:37 AM Here I sit at my computer, pretty drained from all this physics. And I didn't even start on my chemistry or my calculus. I did get an interesting break when I heard my roommates yelling and running around outside my room. So I opened the door and found several blockades made out of boxes blocking off the hallways. I climbed up over the one in my hall to see what was going on. Apparently we had another mouse on the loose (this isn't the first one we've found). My three roomies had it cornered in the kitchen/laundry room area. It was under the fridge. It ran into the laundry room, and while Brian was scaring it with the broom I blockaded the kitchen. Now Mr. Mouse had nowhere to go. He ran out of the laundry room and back under the fridge, then immediately back out into the kitchen where Brian smacked it several times with the broom. It was very dead, or as my cousin Marina would say, "Deaaaaad mousey!". I'm calling the office and asking them what the deal is with all these damn mice. I'm not spending $410 a month to live in a rat hole. Hopefully I'll do alright on this exam today. Off to bed. Grab my feet and dunk my head in so I can drink November 9, 2004 This is my new blog. Today I woke up at 6, then again at 7, then at 9 I think, then finally I stayed up at 10:30. I pissed around till physics lab today which went very smoothly. Except for the fact that I found out my physics exam is tomorrow and not next week like I thought. Shit. Since I got back I've been studying physics in the hopes that a cram session will get me at least a C on this thing. I also went to Martins today where the deli lady gave me a free sample of provolone cheese which I enjoyed very very much. Also I will be taking my car to the garage this week so I can finally fix the belt that sounds like a rusty spoon scraping on a chalkboard...behind a megaphone. I also have a noise coming from behind my airvents. I call it snake, because it sounds like a ticked off rattlesnake. It used to only start every now and then but now I hear it all the time. Death to car bills. Off to studying. |
