My name is
Jim Plemmons and I have been a ham for 13 years. I have taken
my
General class written test and passed it but have not taken the CW
test.
For the past two years or so I have been spending most of my time on 2
meter FM on 146.550 with the NEOK Simplex group. I also spend a lot of
time on 6 meter side band on 50.125. I monitor both frequencies on a
daily basis but when 6 meter is hopping it is just about a guarantee
that I will be on there making contacts. I am currently going for
W.A.S. on 6 meter sideband.
I am happy to say that I have three people in
my family that are licensed ham operators.
My Station
My rig of choice is an ICOM
IC-706MKII-G which I use for 6 meter and 2 meter FM and SSB. For two
meters I use a Cushcraft 13B2 at 45 feet and a
Ringo Ranger 2 ground plane at 40 feet. I use 4 element Hy-Gain yagi
on 6 meter side band
at 30 feet and a homebrew 6 meter starduster vertical at about 25 feet.
I QSL
direct and by EQSL.
