Random Wire Antenna
This is the design for a simple random wire antenna.  The same design works for a long wire.  The length of the wire can be as long as possible.  Ideally a 9:1 balun should be used, but I used a 1:1 since I just happened to have one on hand.  The 1:1 balun worked fine, but a 9:1 will give less noise and will match the high impedance of the random wire to the 50 Ohm impedance of the SW receiver.  This design could also be used for transmitting, but a 9:1 balun is then required.
