What's new at amateur station N2UHC
Entry for December 17, 2007
This past weekend I managed to hear the annual shortwave broadcast of Radio St. Helena.  The broadcast was on Dec 15th on 11092.5 USB.  I happened to be out of town during the broadcast but fortunately I was able to listen to the broadcast by leaving my receiver tuned to the frequency and letting the computer record to a hard drive.  I got several hours of the broadcast but only about two hours were readable.  The signal was just very weak as they were only transmitting around 1000 Watts according to the website, or 800W according to one of the announcers during the broadcast.  But the signal did come through clear enough for me to fill out a reception report to send for a QSL.  I thought it would be neat to get a QSL for my collection from this once-a-year station, especially since this year they're sending a special anniversary QSL for 40 years of broadcasting on the island, and 10 years on shortwave.
