| "Oh, really now? Well, you can bet that North will regret Senior Raid this year." This came from a stocky redhead. "Why is that? Do you guys have some scary, secret plan?" Ayzlin said in a mocking tone. "Oh yeah. We are going to win this year, and North is going to be sorry," a brown-head said. "Yeah, we'll see about that." She noticed the fourth guy was silent, and he kept looking around, almost as if he didn't want to be there. "You. Why aren't you standing up for your pathetic little school?" "Probably because I don't attend their sorry little school. I'm a roadie brat, I guess you could say. I'm here with my cousin, Brad," he said pointing to the blonde. "Well, then I guess you can be excused." Ayzlin took a good long look at him, and realized how good looking he was. "But the rest of you, are dead meat." The three looked bewildered. "Egg 'em guys," Ayzlin said to her friends. But just as the first eggs were thrown, a crowd of south students- including the football team- converged with the four guys. "Um, any new directions, oh fearless one,"Chris joked. "Only one- RUN!" Ayzlin yelled. All four turned and ran, jumping over what ever happened to be in their way. They finally found temporary refuge in a school annex. The South people crowd pounded on the doors and on the windows. "How are we ever going to get out of here?" Wes asked, out of breath from the running. "I don't know," Ayzlin replied, just as out of breath. One of the doors opened and the four looked over, a look of panic on their faces. They knew that if any of the South people got in, it could be bad. Amber flipped the lights on, and looked to see who had come in the door. It was the "roadie brat". Ayzlin breathed a sigh of relief. "How did all those South people know to go to the parking lot after the game? I know their cars were there, but they were gathered like they knew what we were doing." "Well, I could be wrong, but the way I heard it was you made signs to hang up in the locker room. Your decoration comittee made a few of their own, one of which said, and I quote,' Have a nice trip home!'." " Oh gosh. I can't believe it." All four sighed at their obvious poor choice of help. "But I also know that they are waiting for you to come out the front of the annex. You were right when you said they had a pathetic school," he gestured towards Ayzlin. She smiled at him. "Thanks for the help. We'll go out the back window," Wes told him. He and Chris opened the big window wide enough to fit through and then Wes crawled though. Chris helped Amber through, and then motioned for Ayzlin to hurry. She turned and looked at the stranger. "Um, actually, I've got to go to Drew's after I get outta here, so I might egg them on a little, so you guys can get a head start." Chris shrugged and slipped through the window. Ayzlin watched him go out, then turned around. "Thanks for all the help," Ayzlin said to him. "Hey, it was no problem. Uh, I'm Peyton." "I'm Ayzlin. Are you in town for awhile?" she asked hopefully. "I'm leaving tomorrow," he said, disappointed. "But, I'll look you up when I'm in town, alright?" Ayzlin's face brightened. "Yeah, I'd like that. Just ask your cousin. All the guys at North know me, from soccer," she told him with a wink. "All right. I'll talk to you later." Ayzlin took one last look at him then crawled out the window. She got up to her feet, and looked around, just to be safe. Then she ran across the field behind the school, climbed the fence, and walked to Drew's house. Chapter Three |
