| 7 STEPS TO GOAL-SETTING (Part B) |
1. Ignorance
Hos 4:6
(God:) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...
2. Laziness
Pro 13:4
The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent
shall be made rich.
Pro 12:24 (TLB)
Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and never succeed.
3. Resignation
4. Presumption
Lk 12:22
Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about
your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on."
Pro 16:9 (TLB)
We should make plans - counting on God to direct us.
Prov 13:16 (TLB)
"A wise man thinks ahead; a fool doesn't and even brags about it!"
HOW TO SET GOALS?
1. Specific
1 Cor 9:26 (TLB)
So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I fight to win. I'm
not just shadow-boxing or playing around.
2. Measurable
3. Action Plan
4. Realistic
Pro 24:3-4 (TLB)
Any enterprise is built by wise planning, becomes strong through common sense,
and profits wonderfully by keeping abreat of the facts.
Isa 1:18
"Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD.
5. Time Conscious
6. Expectation Management
a. I need to be flexible
Pro 13:19 (TLB)
It is pleasant to see plans develop. That is why fools refuse to give them up
even when they are wrong.
b. I need to live in today
Mt 6:34 (TLB)
"So don't be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow
too. Live one day at a time."
7. Revelation
Pro 16:1 (TEV)
We may make our plans, but God has the last word.
Jas 4:13-15
Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a
city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; whereas you
do not know what will happen tomorrow...Instead you ought to say, "If the
Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that."
Eccl 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their
hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning
to end.
Rom 8:28
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God,
to those who are called according to His purpose."
