| In the early to mid
80's a network of trunked radio systems using the GMARC type was built
in the upper Midwest. Marketed mainly to agri-businesses and farmers. While
many sites still exist, it has been generally replaced by newer formats.
Con-Net Erricsson does offer dual-format radios for GMARC & EDACS.
The main item about trying to listen to GMARC system. During a transmission there is a tone that is superimposed onto the signal audio. Making reception by a non-GMARC radio very annoying. Scanner Master offers a combination EDACS-GMARC tone blocker for scanners, which makes reception bearable. I have little information about GMARC sites. |
