District Sixteen covers only four counties in Northern
Illinois. At one time the counties in District Sixteen were part of District
One to the south. At that time it was known as District 1A before becoming
a seperate district in the 1970s.
Like all State Police Districts in Illinois. District
Sixteen is also known as Rockford State Police after the location of the
District Headquarters. Located now just north of US-52 in Pecotonica in
western Winnebago County.
District 15 covers the Northwest Tollway that takes in
Interstate 90 which enters southern Boone County before entering eastern
Winnebago County and turns north to the Wisconsin State line. |
