The main channel for public safety operations within a county. In most Counties the Sheriff Office will be the main or only dispatch center or the largest PD may operate the center instead. Rescue & EMS squads may also operate on channel. 155.850 is the statewide common handheld channel(but may be used as a car to car channel).Some counties have installed a seperate repeater channel where Dispatch has been moved.

Mainly used in a two channel simplex mode. Some counties have installed repeaters on channel.
Several counties have 156.030 or 155.415 as the mobile side instead of the the standard 155.910. |

Iowa Department of Public Safety owned & operated wide area
repeaters. The area on the map are same as used by DPS for dispatching.

Some radio traffic can be heard between dispatch centers and outside agency units can also be heard on 155.475 Mutual Aid. |

Most local fire departments operate on the countywide channel. Several counties have separate fireground channels. Some departments may operate on the town's public works channel
Some may have their own fireground channel or are able to operate on neighboring counties channels. 154.280 is the statewide fire mutual aid channel. (AKA Fire/Defense) |

Less organized as law enforcement or fire systems. Most operations between ambulances and Hospitals are on 155.340.
155.280 is for Hospital to Hospital communications. Fire based ambulance services may operate on the fire channels. Several metropolitan areas have paramedic radios for the 463 MED channels, or have gone to 800 Mhz Trunked Radio Systems or even cellphones. |
