You came back?? this is only going to be a small update , i thought it would be bigger but i ran
into a slight problem, so i was forced to " down tools " for a bit.. Sorry!
In this part im going to do some painting "WooOOooh"
The paint i used was standard
TM Car spray paint, i bought a can of grey primer, black
gloss, metallic gold and some clear lacquer. I use car paint because it usually dries within about
an hour
The best piece of advice i can give right at this moment is.......SEAL THE BLOODY WOOD!
I didnt and you will see the results in just a bit.
Usually sheets of wood will have the front and back faces Pre-sealed but not the edges,
besides even if the edges were sealed you cut them off ages ago !
Right onto the painting then. Excuse the blurry image, im no cameraman.
This is the guitar after having 2 coats of primer, the front and back sides covered brilliantly, while
the rest of the can got soaked up when i tried to spray the edges of the guitar and in all my wisdom
i thought that the primer would seal the sides for me......... WRONG!!!
Front Back
This is after the first coat of black gloss, again it covered the front and back quite well i had
a couple of little runs in the paint, one on the head and one on the back of the guitar body, they
can be sanded out with some REALLY fine grade sandpaper tho, so its not too much trouble.
Remember i said about sealing the edges? well this is what happens if you dont..
Cue scary psyco " eeek eek eek " sounds now !!!
As you can see the paint was just absorbed on the sides, the black patchy bits on the sides is where
the primer did actually seal the wood.
This was the slight problem i mentioned at the start of this section, what i have to do now is
lightly sand down the sides to take a little of the paint off, get some standard PVA wood glue,
mix it with a little water to thin it out a bit, and apply that to the sides, a bit will get soaked
up by the wood, apply a little more and that should seal it up fine once dry, Then i can carry on
and do the second coat of black.
Now all i have to do is go buy some wood glue, then i can carry on with the painting YAY !!
So untill then stay tuned... Same Bat time, Same Bat channel. Im Outta here !
