Hello again ! In this part i will be cutting out all the holes for the buttons and things.
But before i do, lets have a look at the components i will be using..
For the main control board im not going to do a keyboard hack, there far to complicated to
figure out, plus you could still end up not being able to do certain button sequences,
E.I. 3 button chords. So im using a joypad (any cheap joypad will work as long as you have 6 buttons on it) i didnt want
a cable getting in the way, so i bought a wireless joypad.
its a Genius G12X
For the fret buttons i chose these.
3x
2x
I would have liked to have got all the same colour, but the BLOODY
shop didnt have enough in stock, so i thought id do them alternate colours GRGRG. It doesn`t
really matter what they look like, when you play you dont look at the buttons, as long as they
feel right thats all that matters. These are about the size of keyboard buttons so they should be
just about the right size. BTW im using a black button
as the ESC key.
For the strum im using just a basic microswitch
and will cover the lever
with a strip of heat-shrink.
Im also mounting buttons for the U,D,L,R keys so i can controll the menu from the guitar, so for
that im using "sub-micro" buttons. The metal barrel for these is only 7mm diameter.
as tiny as a flea that ate some of that cake in " alice in wonderland" that made her
REALLY small.
As its a wireless controller it takes batteries, i noticed that the controller didn`t have a sleep
mode, so to stop it from draining the batteries while not in use (esp if i left it leaning against a button) i decided
to put a kill switch in there.
Ok onto making some holes (and potentially screwing the whole thing up!)
