The Phantom Bride
These sifting sands pay little heed, And midnight robs tranquility, And in my mind is sown a seed As to its plausibility. You've gone my love, they laid you down In nuptial gown of finest silk, Near to the place where you did drown By people of your family's ilk. And yet I saw you walk tonight More than a phantom of my mind, In hand you held the poesy tight, Your bridal veil flowed out behind. You seemed to float as creatures do That I have seen in realm of dreams, But your sweet face was tinged with blue And air was rent with tear torn screams. That smile that tore my living heart Played gently on your pallid lip You waved as if you must depart Like moon that into day doth slip. I've seen you there a thousand times, Now will is weak, and reason slips And as the midnight hour now chimes Once more I'll kiss those pallid lips. 2008-03-13 05:06:02 GMT
