Entry for May 11, 2007
Well- of all the messed up things...Last nite, around ten or eleven my husband and I are relaxing in our basement room, mind you our rent is far from cheep so we'd expect a modicum of privacy. I'm watching Law and Order reruns like on every other nite, and he's watching some game or other when I see a beam of light, a flashlight, peirce the darkness and sanctity of our little home. So I go over to the window and there's 2 cops in uniform playing peeping tom thru my window! Lucky we were dressed and not smoking crack or anything-I say, "What's up officer?" and the one with the flashlight says that he's looking for a 'black guy named Larry' and I say, "he doesn't live down here." Then he asks can I let him upstairs from where I am, no I say, I use a seperate entrance hence a separate key. I could have but I wasn't gonna give peeper any encouragement. I don't know what happened after that, but I do know that they had no legit business shining a light thru my window at nite for no reason. I also know that sure as shit I'm gonna fix that damned window when I get home even if it means putting a blanket over the damned thing. The way its set up, curtain or not one cannot see inside without a flashlight and alot more than a passing glance. I gotta go for now 'cause I'm at the public library but this is a topic I will be revisiting when I have alittle more time to expound on it 'cause believe me theres plenty to say, just from talking to my friends this morning I know there are strong opinions on the subject. What ever happened to protection from unreasonable search and seizure, or even just plain old right to the privacy of ones home?
