Kanyakumari the southern place with the cool name

We left early in the morning taking the train then bus (about a 4 hour journey) to Kanyakumari. This is the southern most tip of mainland India. We arrived early afternoon and Clay set off to find a hotel. Time for him to get his badge in hotel hunting. He earned it. He found a great one, best room we have had so far. At first he found a great room but when we arrived someone had already occupied it in the time he came back to get me and pick up bags where id been waiting. So we asked for another room for the same price. It was no good. “Why should we pay the same price for a room not as good and we have to walk up so many stairs” “Find us a room on this level or one level up and make it good!” “You promised us a room that was good now you give us less we are not happy” They discussed this amongst themselves and gave us another key to check out. The room was much better but they wanted much more. Eventually we bargained them down to giving us the really good room for just Rs 50 more. A real square wheel. We walked down to the ocean, a place where you can watch the sun set and the moon rise simultaneously at certain times. We went to Gandhi’s Memorial, the place where his ashes where scattered into the ocean, a meeting place of 3 seas. Everywhere around there where thousands of blac shirted brown beaded pilgrims all preparing to go to the Main temple out on an island. This Island is next to another island with an awesome statue on it but more on that later. Every single pilgrim was in a great mood and they all seemed to want a photo with Clay and I. “ok stand here, ok one more,” their old film cameras clicked away all into the sun and at funny angles, not many knew the first thing about photography, but it was a novelty to be in every photo.
