This marvelous building gets a short entry to itself. Its huge, 5 stories high with cone roof towers, high balconies many sets of spiral stairs and stunning carving. High security (xrays and metal detectors) along with warnings about photography made the importance of the place obvious. Our self guided tour started with excitement when we got into the elevator and Yi fan the Malaysian girl we are now traveling with pressed the alarm button instead of the open door button, security was there but said no problem when we explained the mistake. Up to the top floor and the high balconies and towers where calling like the forbidden fruits of cool places. We walked into some of the offices, (who leaves the doors open with no keep out sign?) more stacked paper than the New York state library. File sorting day anyone? Every detail of this place although covered in filth was stunning, the carved stone pillars and marble floors, the filth on the beauty, a symbolic representation of the corruption that covers the Indian Justice system. We went back down and crossed the courtyard. Back up in the elevators although Yi fan had a temporary ban on pressing lift buttons. At the top floor, we could see awesome stone spiral stairs leading somewhere cool. We asked a guard if we could go up. “No” she replied, “only judges and people of high rank can go up, not even me” this just made us want to go more. We went down stairs 1 level, and started up the same stairs “if she asks we will just say we didn’t know it was the same stair case”. The plan was foolproof, I mean it was for fools. We started up and had no trouble on the way up. The view at the top was great! You could see the city out towards the ocean. We decided not to hang around too long and headed down, when we got to the floor where the guard was she passed Clay one way and almost saw him, she then passed me on the way back and almost saw me! So close. We got out and it was so much fun!
