The Gateway of India

The Gateway to India is a beautiful Basalt Archway, its enormous and stares majestically out to sea. Its enormous but doesn’t seem to fit in with anything around it. It doesn’t need to. It’s a statement rather than something trying to blend. The British built it in the early 20s and marched out of ceremoniously at the end of their Indian rule. These days it’s a cool place to hang out. Balloon sellers, tea sellers, ticket touts and a range of other vendors hang around here with the millions of pigeons. The harbor stretches out in all directions around it and its great and any time of day or nite. Photos describe it better than words.
