Lhasa

We finally arrived in lhasa, it was a weird city. The roads where very big and wider than most modern western cities. There where hardly any cars to fill these huge roads. Its like they are preparing for some big changes soon. Most of the big shops are owned by Chinese, many parts of Lhasa just felt like any random Chinese city. It is as if Lhasa is stuck in time, but instead of being in the past its stuck somewhere about 10 years in the future. It’s the most weird feeling. Lhasa has everything but it seemed like there where no people around. Plasma Telivision showrooms and Buic dealership showrooms stocking the latest models but no people walking through them to buy them. A black shine over the city, like the dark eye of a yak. The whole city seemed like it could have passed by as a modern black and white movie, not black and white because the color technology wasn’t there yet but because the producer of the movie thaught it suited the reality of the situation. We went to the hotel, Tibetan run with very friendly staff. I had started to get headaches from the altitude. Luckily they where not too bad. That evening we met the sister of a friend and had tea at her friends house, we showed pictures of my home and farm and our guide being very helpful translated and it turned out they say the farm culture is similar to theirs with green summers with cows and horses. BUT we don’t have Yaks! A big bowl of momo soup an early nite was in store
