GED Talk
I am a GED teacher. Come here to read about all things GED.
Entry for June 27, 2007

"I want my GED." "I'm going to get my GED." "I want to take a GED class." You hear these statements made constantly when you work in Adult Basic Education. That's the branch of the education industry devoted to programs for adults and now teens who have not completed high school. I've come to believe that most potential ABE students do not have a clue about what it is they are asking for. There seems to be a belief that all you need do is show up at a site that offers such courses, and you will ushered  into a classroon where your new GED teacher is waiting to place all the GED knowledge you'll ever need into your sweet brain. Sometime, very soon after that, you will be scheduled to take "the test." You will pass said test and be informed immediately of your wild success. Of course you will then live happily ever after. Well maybe. That is, if you come into the situation with very few educational deficits, study hard, have a good teacher, suffer no major calamities in your life, have the time, and you're just plain lucky. I"m here to tell you that like a lot of things in life, it's usually not that simple. In the next few posts, I'll tell you about some of the things that can and do happen in the world that is "GED." See you later, Lynne. Check out my website at http://getyourged.googlepages.com/home.
