Below is a list of websites dedicated to offering free image hosting service for remote hosting of avatars and signatures for forums / message boards and MySpace, uploading auction pictures and photos for auction sites such as eBay and Yahoo, as well as web hosting for a photo gallery of your family etc. Generally these free web hosting services are operated on dedicated servers due to their popularity and high bandwidth usage requirements

Flickcabin is a simple free image host where you can anonymously upload pictures from the home page upload form without registering an account, and hotlink the remotely hosted images on eBay auctions, message boards, blogs, MySpace, and other websites. After uploading images, you are given BBCode (for posting the image in forums) and a direct link URL. There is no mention of maximum filesize, bandwidth and inactivity limits, or how long the hosted pics remain on the server.

Imgbolt is a free image hosting service (and free file hosting services for a few non-image file types) that enables people to easily upload, link, and share images, photos, full Flash movies, and more on mySpace, blogs, message boards, photo sharing, and Ebay auctions, with hotlinking allowed. Public users can use the anonymous upload form on their ImgBolt home page to upload pictures up to a 1 MB max file size of these file extensions/formats: jpeg, jpg, png, gif, bmp, tif, tiff (with 1 GB monthly data transfer per image). With optional free registration, registered members can upload images up to 15 MB maximum filesize of these allowed filetypes: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, tiff, tif, psd, zip, swf (Flash), doc, txt, pdf (Adobe Acrobat documents), and can use 30 GB monthly bandwidth.

ImageBam - "Image Bam" is a free image picture hosting site that has a 3 mb maximum image size limit. Multiple-file upload and zip-upload are available for unregistered guests (registration optional). The zip-files can be up to 100 mb max size and contain as many as 100 pictures/images. Logged in users also have a flash-upload with upload-progress-bar which provides uploading info such as ETA and upload speed. Uploaded images can be joined into photo galleries. When logged in, image galleries can be managed and edited (title, description, merged, deleted, and more). Images of registered users will stay online as long as the account is being used, and images uploaded by guests may be removed after 40 days inactivity (possibly longer); every time the images get accessed, the 40-day counter is reset.

Hotlink-Files - HotlinkFiles.com is a free file hosting provider dedicated to providing reliable free filehosting with direct linking files allowed. You can upload, store, and hot-link videos, photos and pictures, music clips, audio files, and more (all filetypes allowed), and stream audio and video files for MySpace, Friendster, Xanga, blogs, and other websites. Registering is optional (though required for uploading and hot-linking non-image files). The free filehost registered accounts have a 50 MB maximum upload file size for all file extensions, and the anonymous uploader form allows a max file size of 5 MB, but only allows uploading and hotlinking images. FileAve - FileAve.com is a free file host and web host which gives users 50 MB file storage space on free hosting accounts, and 150 MB bandwidth/day (about 4.5 GB/month). That is the daily data transfer for external linking (file downloads by others), but all users have unlimited access to their own files through the control panel. You can host 50 MB of your videos, music clips, Flash animations, WAV files, and images for use anywhere, such as LiveJournal, eBay auction listings, MySpace, Xanga, photographers, sharing your files, homework, and more. All file types are permitted, but no scripting is allowed. The HTML codes are automatically generated for embedding music/videos/images on webpages -- hotlinking (direct linking/ external linking) files is allowed. You can host JPG, GIF, and PNG files up to 20 megs each, with hotlinking images supported. "Alka Space" offers lots of useful features as creating an auction gallery, an image portfolio, a slideshow, and a special "spin 360" option (360-degree spins). The free image host also has a tutorial to help you to add free images or an online photo gallery to your eBay auction listings. You can use their service without registering if you use the public area ("demo"), but they recommend that you register to have more privacy. Your account is renewed automatically every month. The free photo hosting service says it may place branding on uploaded images, though no watermark was on the image I uploaded in the demo section.

You can create unlimited number of sub-photoalbums, and even sub-albums within sub-albums. Image links are easily accessible thanks to multiple view options within the members account. You can hot-link images or use a public gallery section to share your images. Photo album privacy settings allow you to prevent people from viewing your content. You can move your sub-albums and images into other sub-albums, add descriptions, and rename them. Upload settings allow you to change the default image size, so all your images can be resized to your liking during upload. Member registration is required. The maximum image size allowed is 512 KB, and the free hosting accounts provide 999 MB of available storage space for your image files. For larger images, 180-pixel wide thumbnails are autogenerated (180x180px max size) and can be hotlinked on forums, ebay auctions, and other web sites with the provided BBCode and/or HTML code (but not larger full-sized pictures). You are also given removal codes in case you want to delete the uploaded files. When uploading pics, they can be tagged as SFW (safe for work) or NSFW content (not safe for work). Their website claims the free imagehosting service is powered by dedicated Linux servers.

Host-A - Host-A is a free file hosting service for anybody who wants to upload their files or content for public exhibition or private downloading. The free file uploader accepts all file types (games, songs, audios, photos, videos, compressed archive files, etc.), and hosted files are kept until the user removes them. In order to use the free file host, registration is required (instant activation), and uses are given 20 mb of free file storage space to upload files to, and a subfolder URL which lists their public files that can be downloaded. You are given 550 MB of bandwidth/month, but can earn more by using their referral system -- for each user you refer to Host-A, you will earn 100 MB of additional bandwidth; also if a user views your profile page or downloads a file from your free hosting account, and signs up afterwards, you are credited for that. You can upload up to 10 files at once, and mark them as private or public. Hosted files have download counters to record the number of file downloads (you cannot direct link the hosted file though). Account add-ons (upgrade) are available via donation.

Image-Upload.net - This free image hosting service stores your pictures online so you can share them with other. You can direct link (hotink) images (or the optionally created thumbnail images) for use in ebay auctions, forums, MySpace sites, message boards, blogs, and other web sites. Phosted - A free image hosting service where you can freely host jpg, gif, png, and bmp files to post on online auctions, messageboards, soical networking sites like MySpace, or use for photo sharing. Directlinking (hotlinking) allowed. You can upload 3 images at once, and uploaded files are hosted for 40 days, or until the monthly 1GB bandwidth limitation has been exceeded. The maximum file size is 350kb. The free imagehosting site is running the Celerondude uploader script. There is no need to register to use the free anonymous image uploader service.

ImgFreeHost - "Img Free Host" is a free auction image hosting website which allows you to upload these file types: gif, jpg and png images, with maximum file size limit of 250KB per hosted image. The uploaded images, pictures, and photos stay hosted on their image free host server for 60 days, however if you wish to have your images hosted indefinitely you can upload your pictures again at any time to reset the 60-day limit. Linking codes are provided in 3 different formats, and direct linking pictures can be done on auction sites like ebay, classifieds, forums, message boards, and other websites ("hotlinking" allowed). ePhotoHut.com - "e Photo Hut .com" offers free photo gallery hosting for your pictures and images (jpeg, gif and png formats). The free hosting plan (registration needed) allows up to 3 image galleries, upload up to 30 images, 20 MB storage space, 250mb/month bandwidth, 500KB file size maximum, 800x600 pixels maximum dimensions (oversized images are auto-resized), and upload up to 3 image files at once. Note: their URL branding is added to bottom of uploaded pictures. Uploaded pictures can be renamed and resized online, and be sent to one email at a time. You can get paid upgrade for more features and to remove the URL branding.

FreeImageHosting.net - Free image web hosting with upload manager and online photo gallery creator. Upload your pictures free for posting images on message boards, hosting your ebay auction photos, and even sharing pictures with your family. You do not need to register, but creating an account lets you manage all your uploads and create online photo galleries. The web hosting for your hosted images is on a dedicated server. Filename extensions allowed: gif, jpg, bmp, png. The max filesize limit is 3000 KB. Uploaded pics are stored online at least 60 days.

ImageCave - "Image Cave" provides free imagehosting, with image manipulation tools such as image resizing, conversion, rotate, compression, thumbnail and photo album generation. JPG images over 250 KB will be compressed, BMP images will be converted to JPG files, and larger images will be rejected.

ImageVenue - "Image Venue" uses a multiple server network to provide free image hosting for bloggers, eBay sellers, message board users, and personal websites. No registration is required. Your images will be web hosted on a Linux powered dedicated server network. Hot linking thumbnails on a message board, personal webpage, or ebay auction is allowed, but direct linking large images is only allowed for paid premium members. Maximum file size is 1.5 MB. PhotoBucket - Photo Bucket is a free image hosting company for ebay, online auctions, classifieds, message boards, blogs, live journals, and online photo albums. You can easily upload, categorize, add titles and delete images as needed. Direct linking is allowed, and there are tutorials for directlinking images on eBay auctions, MySpace, and Xanga. You can upload up to 20 pictures at once. Photos larger than 1 MB are automatically scaled down. Their BucketStamp is a dynamic imaging tool for you to share multiple images in a single link combined with some interesting animation, a form of photo gallery for your pictures. Limitations: 1 GB storage space; 25 GB/month bandwidth; 1MB (1024KB) file size limit; Extensions allowed: .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .swf (Flash files); Images must not contain any weird characters (numbers and letters only). The uploader converts bmp and tif to jpg. You can view the most recently uploaded pictures. Users in the UK have the ability to take any of their images or photos and publish to their mobile phone. You can optionally upload images via a regular email address. Also now features free video hosting -- users can upload, share, and publish video clips free up to 3 minutes long and 100 MB filesize (5 minutes in length if you are a premium user). Now serves over 500 million images a day.
