Little is known of Prince (Albert) Woods of Tennessee. What we do know is that by 1880 he and our beloved matriarch, Jennie Love are married and living in Maury County, Tennessee. Both Jennie and her mother Panola Walker were born into bondage. Panola was born in 1835 and Jennie held captive in Somerville (Fayette County), Tennessee in 1850. Prince was born in 1845; however whether he was born into bondage is not yet documented. Eventually, Jennie and her children moved to Monroe County, Arkansas, where they farmed the land. Family history indicates that Jennie was forced to flee, in the middle of the night, with her children from Tennessee because of a threat of death to blacks from whites in the Tennessee region where she was then living. Jennie's courage and fortitude saved the bloodline. We will continue to search out information on the roots of this branch of the family. We can only hope this endeavor brings them honor and we praise their valient efforts on behalf of generations yet unborn.
