OBITUARY:  DEATH OF FATHER FAIDLEY
Aged Gentleman Passed away at the home of Daughter Special to the Journal.
Maxwell, January 19, (1910).  The funeral of the late Mr. Faidley, an old
resident of this city, was held Tuesday afternoon at the home, and inter-
ment made in the Maxwell cemetery.  The funeral was postponed from the
morning on account of relatives not being able to get here on account of the
Milwaukee wreck at Cambridge.  All the friends and relatives sympathize with
the Albe Alverson family, at whose home the old gentleman passed away.  Mrs.
Alverson is a daughter of the deceased.  Sickness being in the family, only
a short prayer service was held at the home.

OBITUARY:  J.P. FAIDLEY
J. P. Faidley was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, October 22, 1831 and
died at Maxwell, Iowa at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. H. E. Alverson, January 15, 1910 at the age of 78 years, 2 months and
23 days.  He came to Sterling, Illinois with his parents while a small boy.
There he grew to manhood and in October 1856, was married to Miss Abigail
Holt.  Eleven children were born to them, all of whom are living except two,
a son and a daughter, both of whom died in infancy.  Those surving are Mrs.
J.E. White, Rossville, KS; J. P. Jr., Des Moines; Mrs. Anna McConnel, of
Peoria, IL; F.F. of Circleville, KS: Mrs. H.E. Alverson, Maxwell; Mrs. J. A.
White of Salina, KS.  Mr. Faidley moved to Jackson county, KS and resided
there for many years, coming then to Maxwell.  Shortly before last Christmas,
he came here for a visit with his daughter, Mrs. Alverson and was soon taken
ill with grippe, passing away very unexpectedly Saturday evening January 15.
His wife and son of Circleville and the son from Des Moines were here to
attend the obsequies.  Owing to illness in the Alverson family, no funeral
was held from the residence, but a short service was conducted at the grave
by Elder S. P. Telford of the Christian Church.

George McClelland, and Charles Putnam.

OBITUARY:  ABIGAIL RHODA (HOLT) FAIDLEY
Abigail Rhoda Holt was born 24 September 1838 in Munson, Geauga county, OH.
She married John Peter Faidley 22 Oct 1854 at Morrison, Whiteside County, IL.
He preceded her in death 15 January 1910 at Maxwell, Story county, IA.
The Faidley's were among the pioneers of Kansas journeying by covered wagon
from Fairhaven, Carroll county, IL.  They arrived first in Brown county in
July 1867 and later settled in Soldier, Jackson county, KS.  They apparently
left Illinois in 1866, for they spent about a year on a farm near Keokuk,
IA where a son was born in December of 1866.  Mrs. Faidley died at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse A. White, 6016 East 12th Street, Kansas City,
Jackson County, MO. Of eleven children seven survive:
Mrs. James (Katherine) White, Rossville, KS;  Thomas Douglas Faidley,
Circleville, KS; Charles Putnam Faidley, Maxwell, IA; Mrs. Asa (Anna Innis)
McConnell, Nevada, IA; Frank F. Faidley, Circleville, KS; Mrs. Elbe (Mollie
Effie) Alverson, Maxwell, IA; Mrs. Jesse A. (Nellie) White, Kansas City, MO.
As descendents she leaves seven of her eleven children, thirty-seven
grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, and one great, great grand-
child.


Charles Putnam FAIDLEY

Charles was never married and had no issue.
