The Late Adam White
It becomes our sad duty to announce the death of one of our old and honored
citizens, Adam White. He was born in Trub Switzerland in 1823, and came to
this country when about 7 years old, and has resided on the waters of Sams
Fork of Big Tygart for many years. The deceased was a kind husband and
father, an honest and upright citizen in all of his business transactions and
few, if any, had more friends than he. He had been a great sufferer for
many years, but bore it all with scarcely a complaint; even his own family
knowing not that he was so near death's door until he passed away on the 19th
of May 1895. After a short discourse, he was laid to rest by the Grand
Army of the Republic, Andrew Mather Post of which he was a devoted member,
having served through the late war in Co. D, 10 regiment, West Virginia
Volunteer Infantry. He was honorably discharged at Richmond at the close of
the war. He leaves an aged companion and ten children, with many
grandchildren to mourn his absence. Comrade White has answered to the last
roll call on earth, but we have reason to believe that he has pitched his
tent on the shore of everlasting bliss.

Tombstone is incorrect. It states that Adam died 19 May 1896.
