Peter P. FAIDLEY

OBITUARY:  PETER P. FAIDLEY
Peter P. Faidley was born in Myersdale, PA August 26, 1844 and passed away at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Williamson of Sabetha on February 25, 1933
at the age of 88 years and 6 months.  He spent hsi childhood in Pennsylvania
and at the age of 17 enlisted in the Civil War and served three years and five
months in Company D 54th Pennsylvania Infantry.  He fought in many battles in
the army of the Potomac, under the command of General Grant.  After the war he
came to Iowa to reside and in 1869 was united in Mariage to Marella B.
Saddaris.  In 1872 they came to Kansas as early pioneers, homesteading land in
Brown county on what is known as Pennsylvania Avenue.  To this union were born
seven children. They are as follows:  G. W. Faidley  and Lee Faidley of Denver,
CO; Mrs. R.J. McCarthy, Bethlehem, PA; Mrs. Anna Williamson, Sabetha, KS; Mrs.
Bertha Dryden, Oklahoma City, OK; Charles O. Faidley of Atchison, KS; and John
P. Faidley who passed away June 28, 1926.  In 1901 they moved to Horton and
lived there until 3 years ago whene they came to Sabetha to live with their
daughter, Mrs. Anna Williamson, where he was tenderly cared for until the time
of his death.  Mr. Faidley was a devoted father and lived a devoted Christian
through all the years of his long life.  Besides his wife and children he
leaves to mourn his going 19 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.  Funeral
services were held Monday, February 27 at the home of his daughter, conducted
by Rev. Earl E. Frantz of Sabetha and Burial was in Horton Cemetery.
