In 1850, for services in the War 1812, he was allowed 40 acres of bounty land by the US Government and in 1856 he was allowed an additional 120 acres.
He accidently burned himself in a fireplace and died a short time later in 1879, at the age 92. He was a farmer and spelled his name with two L's. His farm home was a few miles NW of Bellbrook, OH. He was said to have been a very religious man, a successful farmer and was said to have been an admirer of fine horses.
William was a ward of the Miami County Childrens' Home. He never knew who his parents were and was never adopted.
A Civil War Veteran who served from 8/27/1862 to 6/6/1865. He was a Private in Company B104th Illinois Infantry Regiment.
