Harry GRANT

John and Elizabeth Grant's first son was named Henry on the Civil Registration document.  His name is given as Henry on the baptism records at the Bilsby Parish Church dated June 30, 1861.

Infant GRANT

From Jan Mackie:  Sheldon Grant's step-daughter, Audrey Bess Potter, recalls Sheldon telling the family that one of the Grant children was born on the ship brining the family from England to the United States.  Emma Grant Sanborn's Bible indicates that the family arrived in the U.S. in May 1862.  That date is incorrect because George Grant was baptised in Bilsby October 5, 1862.  The date could be May 1863 or 1864.  Carlton Grant was born in November 1865 in Techny, Illinois.  The July 1865 census for Northfield, Cook County, Illinois, indicates only four children, which would be Mary Ann, Emma, Henry and George.  My best estimate of when the child was born would be in April or May 1864 (Elizabeth's entry in the 1900 census indicates 1864 as the date she immigrated to the US), and it probably died at birth or shortly thereafter.
