siem reap, cambodia (24-26 dec 2003)

to cut the story short, we arrived seam reap after a 24 hour train ride from penang to bangkok and a 3 1/2 hour bus ride (starting from 4 am!! insane!) from bangkok to the border of poipet and another 3 1/2 taxi ride from poipet. did a brief sunset tour of phnom bakheang and completely missed out christmas eve as we fell asleep from 8 till the next morning. what an auspiscious christmas eve then. we visited the temples in a day, starting with angkor wat, then ta phrom and then bayon. i wished we have gone to banteay sreiy but i guess we have to leave it to the next trip then. the next day we "intruded the lives and privacy of some cambodians" as we visited the floating village of chong kneas, about 1 hr ride out of town. interesting though, and i couldn't believe how tonle sap lake was sooo huge. daft!

poipet border, where a tourist police unceremoniously helped the touts to squeeze an extra 200baht for our taxi ride!

sunset at phnom bakheng,, we climbed like a bunch of circus acts..

the faces of cambodia..

i just had to do this.. being all touristy..
