Appendix 5 Some criteria for referring to research

- The relevance of the material to the issue under discussion.
- The validity of the research, especially in relation to the case
being put forward.
- The compatibility of the evidence or argument with the case and
implications of this on the case.
- The reliability of the evidence for the case or point being made.
- The significance of the research.
- The consistency of the individual parts of the description in
the research to each other and the whole.
- The comprehensiveness of the research.
