Appendix 3 Methods of referring to other authors' work

In referencing, students can either emphasise the information provided by the author, or the author.


    Information Prominent Citations

    For example:

    Employees are perceived as a vital component of an organisation (Brown, 1994, p.62).


    Author Prominent Citations

    Brown (1995) in her study of organisations concludes that ...

    As Moodie (1991) has explained, ...

    Loft and Murphy (1994) have pointed out that ...
